I heard a rumor that copybot can, if used cleverly, extract a .BVH file from an avatar who is actively performing an animation. (Not from an anim that is not running, or from a prim.) Any truth to that?

From what I have heard about it (admittedly only conjecture taken from these boards, I havent tried the tool myself), the only thing it can copy is an actual physical prim presence in the world.
I.e. if you have an animation in a poseball, all you can get is a completely inactive ball. It doesnt even copy textures, it displays textures that are precached in memory, but if you log off and back in again, the textures that are displayed are lost. In all this furore, I think the only people who should be worried about it are furniture sellers who tend to display their wares in 'real time' - however all that can be copied is the shape of the object, and not the textures etc, so all you would get is a shape, and none of the things that make it look like it would do finally. |
