Positioning problems with pose balls when avatar changes height on the pose ball

I noticed a problem I had never seen before a few nights ago.

I have created a beach towel with lying animations. The animations use poseballs. In one recent use, my avatar got on the towel in a lying animation. My avatar was wearing heels at the time of getting on the towel. While lying on the towel, I took the heels off my avatar. And then she sank into the towel.

When positioning animations for furniture previously (using poseballs), I had never noticed that the avatar height affected the initial positioning so significantly. For example, if I had a sitting animation for furniture set up so that the avatar's butt were in contact with the furniture, then the butt would be in contact pretty much the same for any avatar of any height. (Where arms and legs ended up, of course, was a different matter entirely.)

So, my questions are:

1) Is the problem I observed with the beach towel one that is limited to the situation in which the avatar changes height while on the poseball?

2) If so, is there any animation technique that deals with this problem, or is it one of those unavoidable things?

make your pose while the AV is Up right. Then use the pose ball to rotate it into the laying down positions. The Height difference in the AVs height when wearing heals/shoe is a distance added from an invisible reference point some where between the mid thigh to the hips.

Now doing what I said above will cause the AV to shift Horizontally on the towel and the not vertically.

What Gearsawe said. That fixes a second weird problem too, it will keep the orange titles from floating in front of the avatar's face.

I was afraid it would be a problem requiring me to redo a bunch of animations.

Thanks.

Thanks Gearsawe,

this information is helpful to me as I am trying to write a pose ball that automatically adjusts for the avatar's height (that I was asking about in the scripting tips forum yesterday.)

It could explain why shorter avis float off the ground a little no matter what I do.
