This has probably been asked. If not, I'm impressed. I searched a bit but could not find anything on the forums.
Is there a bvh importer/exporter for 3ds max yet? (would be nice if it worked with C.A.T. as well)
Also, is there an asf to bvh converter in the house?
respectfully,
-Koh

From: Koh Costello Is there a bvh importer/exporter for 3ds max yet? I'm pretty sure Max can import BVH natively. Exporting it, howerver, is another story. Maya's the same way, and I'd imagine this is also true for other major 3D platforms. The developers tend to consider BVH as something that would be brought to the program from outside, not something you'd need to send out to anywhere else. They expect you'll be reading it from a motion capture suit or from a specialty tasked program like Poser. They don't expect that you'd want to generate BVH data inside a full-featured, robust platform like Maya or Max, and then export it to something - for lack of a better word - "lesser". This is kind of short-sighted thinking if you ask me since full-featured should mean FULL featured, regardless of whether data is incoming or outgoing. That is the way it tends to be though. The good news for Maya is that it can be made to do just about anything a computer is capable of doing (I even did my taxes on it once, no joke) since MEL is so powerful, and some of the Maya rigs and MEL-BVH exporters that residents on this forum have created have been great. I haven't seen anything along the same lines for Max yet, and I really don't know enough about Max's scripting capabilities even to know if it's possible, but I would imagine it would have to be. If anyone's up for the challenge, I'm sure there would be some grateful folks out there.

now that you mentioned scripts, I think MaxScript does have the habilitie to generate files in arbitrary formats, and also someone with enough knowledge of max pluginn architecture and acess to max sdk could surelly do a "binnary" exporter plugin
