Hi all,

my mate just gave me a copy of poser 6, i have had a little play, i have then exported the file in a bvh format but when i try to up load it in SL it says "Unable to read animation file cant get rotation values"
i have just created a static pose.

Is ths me just beeing thick, exspecting it to realy easy to do? or did i need to set things up in poser before SL would read it??

Any help for a newby would be great, or any tutorials would be even better :)

Thanks

Here's a thread with a compilation of useful info and posts for newbie SL animators. (thanks Pietro Maracas!) There was enough info there to get me going in the right direction...

Yup, Pietro's FAQ is awesome. But I don't think it deals with well known "cant get rotation values" issue.

1. The default Poser 6 has a lot of bugs including bvh exporting one. You have to get the latest updated patch, SR2 or at least SR1 from Updates & Documentations.
2. I recommend you use SL Avatar.
3. The first frame must be the default T-Pose which means all values are 0 (except scales). The first frame is just used as reference between bvh and SL world and the pose doesn't appear in SL. Feel free to unfurl your arm. ;)
4. It seems sometimes to happen that the dialog box asking "Scale Automatically" doesn't appear when you export the bvh. In that case, once save it as the Poser animation file (.pz3) and load it again. And then try it. It is important that you select "Scale Automatically".

Hope that helps.

Great suggestion Seagel! I added an FAQ for this to the FAQ for New Animators at /52/7b/47701/1.html#post517272.

Since I don't use Poser 6, I haven't encountered this problem, so please check this FAQ for accuracy.

Also, if additional questions should be added to our FAQ or existing answers need to be revised, let me know.
