Please help, I am really stuck on this question...
I recently made an animation where one hand is raised holding an object.
It worked fine. But now my avatar holds this position ALL THE TIME. I have tried every 'stop all animations' gizmo in my inventory (I have about four including one where i have to wear a silly green hat) I have tried the one in the World menu supplied by the client, I have tried taking off everything my avatar is wearing except for skin shape hair and eyes, and I have tried deleting and purging the animations from my inventory. I cleared my cache. NOTHING works.. she still stands there with one hand raised.
I used Qavimator, I made the animation looped, with the pose in the first and last positions on the screen, and uploaded it using priority 4.
HELP!!! is my avatar doomed to look like she is waiting for an icecream cone ?
The really worrying thing is that I made this for a friend, and I am worried she will have the same trouble and be cursing me!!
Thanks
Imogen

Oh dear, oh dear! Does everyone else see you with your arm up, or is it just on your screen? You may look ok to everyone else.
If you go into the Advanced menu and display the animations that are running, can you see your animation in the list?
There's only one thing left to try that I can think of - go into the Advanced menu and try "Character test" - make sure you have your usual shape and skin saved first though.

Yes, others can see the animation...
I see the ID of the animation when i show them on screen
I tried character test, and the basic avi does the animation too
How do I get rid of that ID in the animations list? any more ideas?
its creepy...
thanks for your reply...

How did you run the animation Imogen - was it run via a script or did you just play it in world? Was it in a pose ball or something?
What happens if you sit on another poseball and stand up again?
If it was in a prim, have you tried a scrubber script? Obviously it's some sort of persisitent effect. Most mysterious.

If you relog in a different sim, does it stop? And then come back if you go back to your usual sim? If so, a copy of your object may have been dropped on the ground or floor, you'll have to hunt it down and kill it.

I found it

Thank you all for your suggestions and help... but I found it... yes, it was a copy of the item laying in the sim... I didnt realise that an animation would play just through me having the item in world!! This very fact itself is scary to me... how do all the items that are laying around in places NOT force avatars to play them? Anyway.. problem fixed and thanks again to all of you... I knew someone would have the answer hugs Imogen

oohh.. weird.. this conflicts with what i knew as default behavior: If an av has to be animated by an object -without- ! sitting on the object, a request pop-up would have to be answered -eg " An object owned by xx yy want to animate your avatar, do you alow that? (y/n) " The permission would only be valid until the next "Stand up". How come this is not the case in this situation? If there is a glitch in the security, the do NOT post the glitch, because a thing like this could be used by griefers. ---- This thread deals with the same isue BR ab

It doesn't seem to work that way - if you give permission to animate via a blue box, the permission stays active within that sim and does not get cancelled, so long as the object with the script in it remains rezd in the sim. Sitting on pose balls is different - you are assumed to have given permission to animate when you chose to sit and it stops when you stand up. Yes, I can remember some griefing incidents involving the use of the Hug attachment - an avatar being forced into an animation everytime another avatar was nearby. (The griefer changed the Hug animation for a less inoffensive one.) The permission to animate remains as long as the attachment remains attached. Taking the attachment back into inventory removes it. (By resetting the script I guess.)The only answer for the victim was to TP to another sim - the griefer not removing the Hug attachment. @ Imogen - glad to hear you are back to normal again

It might be cool if the automatic permissions granted by sitting expired automatically, but pose scripts do retain them too. They only play nice because they are scripted to wait for a new sitter, but they can keep playing with you forever if they want. (Good pose scripts will use this intentionally, and send stop requests after the avatar stands, because not all viewers will take care of this for you.)

I knew someone would have the answer hugs Imogen actually, I have seen this type of problem when people fail to Stand Up say from an MLP scripted item and just Stop the balls instead. The script then seems to not be able to stopanimation on your avvie, so I suggest people use the StandUp before tping away or Stopping the ball(s).
