Hands on hips... almost

I'm finally getting the hang of key frames, splines, movement timing, etc... but I've noticed something strange when using Poser 7. Anytime I build an animation that has me placing the avatars hands on its hips, when I import the BVH into SL, the hands are a good 6-8 inches away from the hips. I then have to go back into Poser, lower the upper arms and make it look like the hands are actually inside the avatars belly. This works fine, and I'm starting to learn to do this in advance, so I don't have to make a second trip back into Poser, but I was just wondering why this does this and what, if anything I can do so that things are more of "what I see is what I get."

Thanking you in advance for your feedback,

I learned early on that the upper-arm in poser is much shorter than in sl. Not sure why this is, but it is. You can simply not care an continue to compensate for it through trial-and-error (that's what I do) or you can scale the upper-arms of the figure in poser. That scaling won't carry over into sl, but will make the arms look correct.

The length of arm can vary alot, and thus makes hand placement hard unless you tailor animate for a specific body shape. What you are doing is right, you have to test to see if you got it in the rights spot. This can make eating hard, as with some av's the hand does not reach the mouth, and others it goes in to thier head.

Well, at least it's good to know it's not just me having this problem and that I'm on the right track with regard to how to get around the issue. Thank you for your feedback!
