Missing Inventory!?!?

Right now - because of all the problems SL is having - I am missing over 5,000L worth of inventory. Grrr....

Anyone else have this problem, and how to recover it?

I've dumped the cache, etc., etc. and *nothing* is working.

Any help will be appreciated.

How about:

The whole of Second Life just went offline. I bet the asset server exploded and your client wasn't getting the data.

The forums are a bad place to complain about missing inventory.

If they realized the server was a sploder, and sploders are gambling, maybe they deleted the server...

Nono, the grid didn't asplode, as I was logged off by "an Administrator," not ping sim 10000.

A couple other things asploded as well, I think, as the website was having some serious issues (I 500'd, 503'd, 404'd, and 111'd* the status page (that's internal server error, service unavailable, firefox can't find it, and connection refused* respectively).

edit:
*actually 111 doesn't exist, but the error I got didn't have a number, this is what I got:
ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://secondlife.com/status/

The following error was encountered:

* Connection to local Failed

The system returned:

(111) Connection refused

The remote host or network may be down. Please try the request again.

If the server became a sploder, wouldn't it have to be removed per the new policy? Sorry, had to toss that in there.

I don't like being the bringer of bad news...but your stuff is prolly the mush and mess of the Virtual worlds trashcan called "Second Life". I've lost over 50 K linden worth of stuff. They tell me that they're not responsible for packet loss and thats when inventory items will be clumped as a multiple linked object in your trash or lost and found.
You can always spend a day or week..(like me) loooking thru all your trash items..rezzing them in a sand box to see if theyve been renamed "object" in your trash.

I'm not convinced this is a packet loss issue though.I really wish that the lindens would check into it. I have bought the same ball set animation 4 times..900$Linden each time..and only THAT ball set disappears. so..im thinking it has something to do with perms set on an object?..or maybe an alphabetical listing? It's stretching it to think that something as random as packet loss..could pick and choose which items to eat..correct?...but anyways...basically their response to me was.."if youre experiencing packet loss... don't do anything"

...uhm....o.O..when am i NOT experiencing packet loss?

yea..its called a "cascading cache" system or something like that..basically..now if you select more than one object..and pick it up..or more than one linked object belonging to you is returned to you at the same moment...it may or may not be renamed and placed in your inventory as one object(may not even look like a multiple linked object)....and...you might rez something that looks like one object in your inventory..and its actually your lost items...disguised as a stray box or prim.

The system didn't used to be this way..they implemented this (i believe) about 6 months back. and strangely enough..I'm SURE that its not related....=) tee hee...I never lost an inventory item til this system was implemented....so's....i haven't emptied my trash in forever..cause i haven't had the time to go to a sand box and begin rezzing random "objects" just to find a painting i paid 16 k for..or a pose ball set I feel like im currently renting at one month intervals.

Any ways...i think they still say that packet loss is a completely different issue...where items arent filed in your inventory..those objects ARE the the "packets that are "lost"" and will never be found again.

They are currently using a toster as the primary SecondLife server :P
