Land Prices: SL has and still is DUMPING so many new regions in that the prices have bottomed out. Do the Lindens ever look at the Map, ( if and when the Map is working ) do they see all the big YELLOW parcels ? It's pretty bad when you can't even sell a parcel at half of what you paid for it 5 months ago !
Group Tools: IM and Notices Not working, This Costs us the owners Traffic and MONEY !
Objects Not Working: Network servers, vendors, pay teleporters, pay scripts and countless other things not working as they should. Money is being lost every minute of every day !
Free Accounts: Place a time limit on them. Since most are worthless to us the land and business owners. Why should WE the paying users have to carry their burden and suffer the impact of the server load due to them ???
I pay SL almost 500.00 USD a month, I expect things to work !!!

The reason land doesn't sell is that prices are just way too high.
Even paying just $25 a month for a plot of land is 'beyond gaming costs' if you aren't going to run a business in SL and make a profit.
Not many people have $295 a month for an island "just for the fun of owning one" if they aren't resorting to commercial activity to recover some of the outlay.
You also have the problem of buying the land in the first place of course - if you're paying monthly 'rent' for the privilege of owning land, then initial prices should be much, much lower.
When Linden Lab realise that not everyone is here to make money, then things may begin to improve, and the yellow will disappear. But not before.

It's pretty bad when you can't even sell a parcel at half of what you paid for it 5 months ago ! You might benefit from thinking this through again...But listed sale prices HAVE NOT DROPPED in the last five months, and THAT is why you arent selling anything...it is basic economics...if supply goes up, and demand remains constant, then price MUST go down, or commerce halts...period! I feel badly that you are caught in the midst of speculation buying at the wrong time, but it was inevitable. The other problem with this reasoning, you want to limit non-premium account use of the grid...are you kidding? Useless to you??....they ARE your market!!! If you have 500 dollars worth of stagnant land, and premium account holders KNOW your land is way above value, and so will never buy at your now-unrealistic prices, well...who WILL you sell to, if you also fix it so that new accounts can't get on the grid long enough to become intrigued by the concept of owning your yellow lots?

Land prices have NOT "bottomed out" at all.
Average land prices are still at least twice what they were when I joined, just last October.
You think they should limit new creation of land so YOU can forever get L$30 per square meter? The fact that people want to BUY land at LOWER prices means not a single thing to you? YOU are the only one who matters, so YOU want super high prices to continue forever?
What a totally selfish way of thinking.

The reason why land doesn't sell is because nobody in their rightmind takes a $460k mortgage for RL Land when the landtaxes are $79k per month. The Tier is higher than the mortgage repayments! The price itself isn't bad, many people could stretch out their credit to buy land otherwise.
Maybe they will stop dumping land on the grid when people stop buying it at the auctions? The demand is obviously still there. Despite most of the grid being for sale, somebody is buying new sims.

Hmmmmm, mhm! I agree, sort of....but the reality is that maintaining a server is costly, too, and the tier is the maintenance fee...don't want to pay it? Okay, buy your land, stay a day, then watch as it becomes vapor in the void! I DO NOT buy into elitism, but I do buy into realism...SL is NOT for everyone, SL is not affordable by everyone, and land ownership is NOT an essential component of residency...as with everything else, there is a price to be paid for luxury, which IS what land ownership in SL comes down to...since the abolishment of First Land, does anyone running the show represent land ownership as a "given"? Once again, SL mirrors RL! Oh, and can you say "Real Estate Bubble"... ...and if I were one of you speculators, who whine and whine about the unfairness of Linden turning on the servers they own and pay for...you are about to fall when this bubble pops. Were I you, I'd be doing a LOT more to lower the price of my holdings and get rid of them....really lowering the prices.....before that bubble does burst, leaving you sitting in a slagmire of bubble soap, mud, blood and broken dreams!!! Instead, you continue to try to convince the other 50,990 of us that, because you had the world by the tail for a while, while we were all too young and ignorant to see through your deception, that we should just roll over and let you keep the status quo. Waketh thee up, and smelleth the coffee, my babies! Linden Lab is sending a message, one that you fail to have embraced first time around...the bush is speaking and burning, and Phil is sending the tablets down the mount to you....times are a-changing baby!

The parcels around it which have been flipped numerous times have all gone for L$15-L$25 per sqm. Methinks you way overpaid for your land 5 months ago. Oh well; lesson learned, eh?

Yes well some of us just buy land to live on, so if I overspent, I'm not really worried because I'm living on it, not buying it to resell

From: Broccoli Curry The reason land doesn't sell is that prices are just way too high. No doubt. There is (and I wish I could say I was kidding about this) someone near the parcel I own who is trying to sell a 16m2 parcel for around L$1,000,000 (that's an egregious I know, but still.....).

You wonder whether these turkeys are trying to affect the average market price somehow by listing dumb stuff like this or are they just hoping to rip off some rich noob looking for their first block of land?

It's a Griefing Scam!

From: Tegg Bode You wonder whether these turkeys are trying to affect the average market price somehow by listing dumb stuff like this or are they just hoping to rip off some rich noob looking for their first block of land? Sorry...I know I'm jumping on an idle thread...but typically you are seeing what I like to refer to as the "Mr. Lee Scam"...where a 'legal' griefer comes into an otherwise attractive/vital mainland sim, and puts up a 100 meter tall spinning sign in the 16sqm, solely for the purpose of destroying the aesthetic quality of the surroundings. The scheme relies on folks being invested enough in their quality of experience to be willing to work together with their sim-neighbors to buy out the trash pile and make it go away...sadly it must be working extremely well, given that you cannot find two sims together that don't have at least one of these spots (i.e. the "Mr. Lee's" of SL have tremendous cash flow that enables them to keep buying)!
