What is it about MIRRORS that has us all so excited?

Is it that mirrors and reflective surfaces are so a part of our everyday RL experiences...or is it something deeper than that? I remember when I first got into SL, mirrors were one of the first things I asked about....and now, voila! here they are. Why do you think they excite us so? are we just that vain? or something else?

"Shiny" surfaces just don't look right without reflection.

I used to *hate* shiny, it looked so bad and it was so overused... apparently it was a new feature when I joined and everyone was going crazy with it. I got to accepting it, but I'm still sparing in my own use of shiny and find it intrusive.

My first thought was that vehicles are going to look so much better know. Not as blocky as they've been.

Reflective water is going to really bring SL to life...I don't think it's vanity at all, just another little tidbit of realism.

most of the trees in SL are just ridiculous. also the ground. If we can fix those 2 things, visually I think this will go along way towards improving the believability factor of SL.

Vehicles look better, so does anything else that's curved and "High Shiny". I think that low and medium shiny should remain "glossy" as they are now.

Water looks, well, wrong. The way reflections in water look are so ingrained that I'd rather not see them than have the wrong images reflected in the water.

Same with flat mirrors, not seeing yourself in flat surfaces when you can see stuff around you is just freaky. Makes me think I'm not there. I suddenly have a lot of empathy with vampires.

I hate having to turn the camera to stare at my lovliness.
