I have not tried Voice and am wondering what the upside is. I use Yahoo Messenger and speak with friends while we tour SL. Why should I consider choosing the SL resident voice over other voice type programs? Thanks for the input - always open to new ideas.

I personally haven't used yahoo conference in a couple years since the sound quality was kind of crappy. SL voice sounds pretty damn good, compared to say There.com's voice feature. I figure since a lot of people have been using vent or skype for multiple talkers, this could probably help on their comps memory use, etc.

I had originally thought of Skype for this but then decided I'd give yahoo a shot since I already had a headset and it could double for webcam talk with family on the other side of the country. Thanks.

if you only want to talk to people you know on your yahoo list, there is no reason to. If you want to talk to everyone easy without having to go to yahoo and exchange screen names and such... its better. Also in local area voice chat, you can tell who is talking easy, and where they are at as the sound is directional and will be louder or quieter in regards to their distance from you.

Its kind of like asking why we even need text chat in SL. We can just have our AV names the same as Yahoo names, and if you see someone you want to chat with you add them to yahoo and send them a message there.

You won't be disappointed.. it's more clear then Skype, Yahoo, MSN and the best of all we don't have programs like Skype that use a hell of a lot of resources lagging out your SL experience! :D

I'm dissapointed because I can't get the first look voice to work. Heck, it wont even open. it has the same error as the optional update this past time had. "There was an error in Secondlife and it will now close"
