Windlight Question.

Why is it other people have Windlight and I dont? I have firstlook DLed. When will they fix this problem cause I really want Windlight.

The windlight First look client was put back in the oven, LL decided they wanted a more widespread beta test of the voice features so that beame the current First Look client till it's released. I suspect firstlight may be back as soon as voice is released.

And it may be that Windlight will be one of those optional viewers when they decide its ready for primetime. I hope so..at this point I am not a fan.

Windlight will probably come back as a First Look viewer at some point, after they do a LOT of work to fix the many issues that users of the initial Beta releases pointed out. What they had was nowhere close to being ready for release. They have many very serious issues to fix before it will be at all acceptable as the new client's sky system. Not the least of which is making it work at all for anyone who isn't nailed to the ground at 21M elevation. The versions so far got progressively worse as you gained altitude, and I don't think there is any way for them to fix that. Whoever designed Windlight did so from the perspective of land-based, relatively flat terrain use ONLY. They didn't take flight or high-altitude viewing perspective into account at all.

Personally, if they can't make it work equally well at any altitude between zero and 768 Meters, then as far as I am concerned they should scrap it. People in Second Life fly, and they do it A LOT. A ground-hugging sky system that only looks good at "sea level" is inadequate in the extreme.
