In last year's windlight viewer it apparently did work, see, for example, torley's blog post. Or google for RenderDynamicReflections.
Any new infos on this feature?
Did it ever reflect avatars?

I just checked the RenderDynamicReflection feature (go to Client - Debug Settings), but it didn't look like it reflected anything. Is it my equipment? It's an old GeForce FX 5200, but I get all windlight features including water reflections, black sky bands

It used to act like a mirror (loooong ago), it was pretty cool, but well not /exactly/ like a mirror the reflection angles were strange. And it HAMMERED your frame rate.
THEN they fuzzed it out so you couldn't see your reflection and they may have gone to only reflecting objects to make it faster. Now? I haven't looked ![]() |

As far as I know, it never reflected avatars.
While we're at it ... I get a very strange effect when I turn RenderDynamicReflections on in Windlight. Apart from the fact that it looks weird in Windlight, my graphics are getting totally borked when I perform certain camera movements. Does anyone else have this, too? |

It did reflect avatars at one time, but the angle of reflection was all wrong, and if you got too close, it didn't see you at all!
Haven't messed with this feature for quite a few months. Fixing it seemed to be completely off the radar as far as LL priorities go. Try standing at least 5 M back from the mirror surface, and pan your camera so you look at the room from various angles. I found it was off by as much as 30 to 45 degrees from the correct angle of incidence and reflection, the last time I bthered to look. _____________________
Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.

......... my graphics are getting totally borked when I perform certain camera movements. Does anyone else have this, too? What problems are you experiencing Dylan. There is a jira issue with ATI cards that is causing triangular spikes all over the screen. http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3258 I am wondering if there might be a connection. I have been having these problems and forgot that I had RenderDynamicReflections set to true. I turned it off two days ago and most of my problems have disappeared. We would love to know if there is a connection here. |
