I hope someone can help my friend. Ever since he downloaded the newest patch his inventory will not load up, parts of his avatar won't load up and he crashes whenever he tries to teleport. He has a pay account and has contacted support only to be given fixes that so far have not worked.
If he can't get the game to work he will cancel his account and I really hate to see that happen.
Does anyone have any suggestions that may help him fix this problem so that he can play SL?
Here is the system he has:
Operating System: Windows Vista™ Ultimate (6.0, Build 6000) (6000.vista_gdr.071023-1545) BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz Memory: 3582MB RAM Page File: 934MB used, 6401MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 10 Display Devices --------------- Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce 7950 GT DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0295&SUBSYS_C6333842&REV_A1 Display Memory: 2024 MB Dedicated Memory: 504 MB Shared Memory: 1519 MB Current Mode: 1680 x 1050 (32 bit) (60Hz) Monitor: SyncMaster 226BW(Digital) Driver Name: nvd3dum.dll,nvwgf2um.dll Driver Version: 7.15.0011.6925 (English) DDI Version: 9Ex Driver Attributes: Final Retail

The only thing that would appear to be a potential issue is.. SL... as of late, LL have been fondling with the server code, bringing it in line with the newer client releases. The blog today says that they have had to roll back the servers to the earlier version.
I experienced slow loading inventory, sim server timing out when trying to rez things, ppls being greyed out and borked search. Tell your friend.. welcome to SL.. ditch his pay for account, use a basic one, the ONLY differences between them are:
You pay monthy for this cr*p service. You can send unanswered emails to support. You can buy land direct from LL (although even a basic account can buy any private land/sim/island/parcel). You make LL richer. Philip needs to buy a new car.
With around 2 million USD worth of transactions per DAY, LL are not going to miss their 9USD account payments.
Maybe..... maybe... in 10 years time, if SL is still around, and they have a professional platform, it maybe.. maybe.. worth the 9USD then.

I have a friend in SL that is trying to let me buy some land from him and SL tells me I need a premium account to purchase the land. Can you tell me how to get around that? Thanks Leeloo Nitely

Only Premium members can own mainland. You'd need to 'buy' from someone who owns an island/estate if you're Basic, but make sure they're reputable...you won't actually own that land in Linden Lab's eyes, so the island owner could take your money and kick you off if they wanted to. It's probably safer to rent as a Basic.

You can do this with a basic account. We 'own' several parcels on Innocence from Sensual Cassonova who is a great 'landlord'. In retrospect, anyone only really ever rents any VR land. LL will reclaim land that you do not pay tier on, the same as any land 'owner'. Always read and abide by the covennant, that is your contract with the owner.

Yes, I said that, I just noted that it can be risky and it may be better to go with a rental (mainland or private island) to ensure there's minimal potential for loss of any initial investment, especially as a newer Resident. There are of course reputable estate owners out there who will abide by their covenant if you purchase land from them, but there are also those who will do whatever they damn well please, since they know LL will not get involved in that sort of dispute.
