Video Problems

tonite we had a little update for windlight and now i cant get the video to work on my land i reseted everything re-deeded everything and it still wont work i think this is a bug error and im just lettin the programmers know so they can fix this problem before anyone else has a problem with it or before they release it to the public like this

I had the same problem until I updated to the new version of quicktime. The newest version of windlight is if you don't have the newest release of quicktime streaming video is disabled.

The should have made it more obvious that QUicktime 7.4 is required, though.

This seems like good news to me. Now content creators can use the newest, more efficient video codecs (like h.264) without worrying if the viewers will have a compatible version of Quicktime.

This pissed me off. It works fine in normal SL, not in the new... and i know about updating, it's just that it shouldnt be this lame, they could atleast make the option to use "normal" cause this blows

The insistance of LL to make the Client look to see if you have the latest QT installed is a good one, a pain for some that rarely do, or even think about keeping things updated. Simply because of the barrage of exploits that are growing by the millions every year, in an effort to steal peoples identity, that ilegal industry creates a revenue of billions of USD every year and so has its own driven sources.

I can assure you, that potentialy over 95% of systems connected to the internet have exploits that are undectable by the average virus checker. Firewalls, virus checkers are all bypassed by this 'smartware'.

I already have the latest version of quicktime and STILL I get the message that I need to upgrade to the latest version. So !?!!? What do I do ? Buy the pro version?

Nahh.. just aware that the vast majority of people with an internet connection, who frequent such places as YouTube and Myspace, join the hoards of people spreading the vast majority of exploits, without even knowing it. I'm not accusing anyone of actually causing this knowingly, as most have no idea their systems are infected as some of the worst exploits/maleware/virus's about these days are always one step ahead of the companies that try and 'prevent' their effects, but also they can bypass and even turn off the checkers, firewalls etc.

No, you certainly don't need Pro (unless you somehow like it). Just COMPLETELY Remove Quicktime from your system. Do a thorough un-install, not just placing the new version on top of the old one. Reboot and THEN install the latest Player from the QT website again. SL will be happy once more.

running a registery cleaner in the middle of that will remove any references.
