Avatar appears as plasma mass

After the forced upgrade to the v8 client release viewer, my avatar now appears as a pulsating mass of white plasma. Cannot change appearance or clothing until "clothing and shape are loaded". While I find the current state of my avatar interesting in a Ghost Busters sort of way, I'm wondering how I can get the normal appearance back.

Anyone have suggestions? Will be difficult to report for work in SL.

PS - Have relogged. Shutdown. Rebooted. C-A-R to rebake. Help sought and appreciated.

It is supposed to be a feature to spare us the "naked ruthed" appearance sometimes we have when loading. If you see, you'll notice that when your avatar finally shows, at least it has clothes on (even if still somehow ruthed). And I have been to places where you can see the plasma things wjth the name tag of the avatars they are supposed to be until they load.

It beats bumping into ugly midgets with breast and beards anytime :)
