How do you submit a bug report, and how do you select an object?

Okay, my understanding is that LL uses our feedback on an RC, so that they can fix things before they release it? The RC will soon be the only choice, right? So how the hell do you submit bug reports? It takes me to some kind of web page, and then doesn't accept my username and password.

I'm having a serious problem with not being able to select any objects outside of a very small distance. In all previous viewers, you can select and edit anything as long as it's within your draw distance. This is causing large-scale builds to be almost impossible. I basically can't build in the new viewer, and have to run the old client to accomplish anything. If the new viewer becomes the only option, I'm basically sunk.

There are other serious bugs, and I feel that none of the developers are going to know about them unless they are hard core builders, which I doubt.

So has anyone actually successfully submitted a bug report in the last few weeks?

Isn't there a Limit Select Distance option (debug?)?

1. Submit bug reports on the JIRA. https://jira.secondlife.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa

Login is in a tiny font at the upper right corner of the page. Use your SL user name and password.

Before submitting a new bug, try searching to see if it's already been reported.

2. I've had no selection distance problems with the RC viewers. Check Draco's suggestion of a distance limiter being turned on inadvertently.

Draco and Lindal -- thank you! It's probably a setting that reverted back to default.

So, Lindal, is this login from within the window that pops up in-world? It is telling me that my ID isn't recognized (or something like that) when I try to log in. It would be extremely ironic if this itself were a bug.

Limit Select distance is indeed marked on by default on the RC client after download. You can find it under "advanced" menu which seems to have replaced the old "client" menu which you get up by pressing CTRL SHFT D.. or maybe CTRL ALT D one of the 2 i forget right now.
I have noticed a lot of complaints about "bugs" which are simply down to the new RC client resetting to default settings so all of your old settings are worth checking to make sure you have the set up you like best. Its easy to forget many changes though and think that your own personal way is the default as i have found out myself.

Whew, thanks everyone. I'm back in business on select distance.

There are still bugs I feel should be reported. Since it won't let me log into the alleged bug site from the popup window, not only am I unable to submit a report; I'm unable to even search whether anyone else has had the same problem.

And I feel the JIRA system is a poor way to handle bugs. To me, JIRAs are more like well-though-out enhancement suggestions. It shouldn't be made into a huge dumping ground for things that are blatantly broken. Just my opinion. I feel that this is a feeble and irritating ploy to thin out the number of complaints, because most people can't even access the freakin thing.
