Wow - what a mess. Aside from the color, which I guess we can adapt to, the most annoying two problems that I've found so far are:

1. Edit > Preferences > Communication

It seems that by default, Logging Options aren't checked (also same problem in Second Life 1.19.1 (4) Apr 2 2008 11:59:37 (Second Life Release) version)

Also the path changes.

Another interesting aspect - if you set the path to say c:\secondlife chat\avatar name, it will put the stuff in c:\secondlife chat\avatar name\avatar name - creates an extra little sub-folder, without you realizing till you actually open up "My Computer".

So in the above situation you now have to make the path c:\secondlife chat, if you want your chat logs to continue as previously (eg c:\secondlife chat\avatar name).

I've noted also, that I need to re-check these boxes, and change the path, each time I log in, because it's not holding - really annoying.

2. Chat History

Where's the Chat History Window - I'm missing being able to scroll up to catch up with a conversation, if I walk away for a few minutes.

[edit - OK, I found the Chat History - there was a .05mm bit showing on the far right of my screen, and I managed to drag the whole window back]

[I'd log these issues in JIRA or wherever, if I could figure out how to use it]

Anyone else found these problems, or others?

I am also seeing the trouble with logging preferences not sticking, couldn't find a duplicate (but may have overlooked). I added http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6265 if you'd like to comment or vote, hope I did that one right.

The thing you mention with directory changes and extra folders doesn't seem to happen for me (but I'm using the Mac build), so you're on your own with that one.

chat history is still there for me, with Ctrl-H. Or you can click the up-arrow on the Communicate button and pick Local Chat.

It's the SL way...

Updates break features in new ways and only rarely fix more than they break.

None of the preferences are sticking for me... not just chat, but graphics, general, etc.

Find a Friend - where's it gone
04-12-2008 19:20
Another missing section is "Find a Friend" - used to be in the Map section.

I don't necessarily want to always tp to my "friend". For example, it saves time tp'ing to location A, if I know that they're still in Location B. Eg say there is a party on, and I don't want to turn up alone. I can look and see if my friend is already there.

Anyone know where this feature has been moved to?

If it's no-where to be found, then there is no point having it as a box that can be checked in the Contacts List - Friend Can Locate You on the Map

I found this feature really useful.

The friends thing was deliberately taken off the map. There's a JIRA for putting it back, let's see ..... here. Voting on this one would be good too =)

http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6243

Meanwhile, there is still a "find on map" button at the bottom of user profile pages.

Yes it's a bit annoying, I found the options seem to reset when ever I run an earlier viewer and come back to it.
AGGGHHH!
I just proved it again, lost all my joystick settings!
