RC / FL Bug in new Search - Parcel and object info is missing or restricted?

In both the Release candidate and the First Look Windlight clients, the new Search function seems to be malfunctioning. (Worse than normal :p ).

Yesterday I could search for my first name, and it would list my profile entry (restricted), my paid ads, my parcel listing for my store land parcel that is set for 'Show in Search', and the "show in search" prim vendors that I have at Textures-R-Us (as part of their parcel listing). I got billed for my 'show in search' listing yesterday...

Today, none of the 'show object in search' prim object flags seem to be recognized, and parcel information is coming up with "404 errors". The parcel entry is not there for my store or for TRU. In my classified ad, when I click in-world on the link for the parcel the store is on, I get an error message stating that information about the parcel can not be displayed "due to security restrictions". (From the web it shows as a 404 error). But I went to the parcel, and the land IS set to "Show in Search", and several furniture items there ARE set as "Show in search" as well as "For Sale". There is no reason they should be being restricted.

The TRU parcel listing doesn't come up either. Not even if I search for it explicitly by name. Their paid ads show, but the parcel info has the same bogus message about 'security restrictions'. WTF?

Hey I was just coming here to ask about that! I always search for 'Desperation' to see any of my ads or parcels and none of the parcels or regions are coming up, even though my public island is still listed in the 'Popular Places' pages. I still come up in the old search just fine, so I don't think I'm being explicitly blocked.

I am wondering if the HTML pages that are generated to support parcel, region and object search data have gone off-line?

I don't know- a LOT of parcels are still listed. If you search for any major keyword, you'll still see tons of parcels returned. Just not specific ones it seems.

Could be they dumped part of the HTML files then, and haven't re-generated them.

None of the words in my object or parcel restrictions would in any way be restrictive. The store parcel isn't even on a Mature rating... So, who knows?

i noticed that problem too, wasted hours trying to figure out what the problem is.
i discovered one strange thing.
when i hit the search button like 5-10 times with the same keywords, it finds my shop after a couple of trys.
the old search doesnt find it at all.
looks like sl is messed up again :-(
i am frustrated. no fun when no one sees your stuff :-(

edit: i noticed another thing. each time you hit the search button (without changing search words) it shows different stuff. so when you find your shop (or whatever you search for) hit again, and on the next page it doesnt show it anymore. really clever!

I think they were poking at the search stuff yesterday. I know I new-searched for the greenies sim at one point and only groups, people & ads showed up - not the sim or the parcel info. Then, later on in the night, it started working again.

Yep, all my parcels and regions are showing up in new search again.

It looks like they've made improvements on the navigation and accuracy of the results. Used to be only the first 4 pages of results were properly navigable (if you use the nav buttons on the bottom of the page), but now, for popular keywords, the navigation is much more intuitive and consistent EXCEPT occasionally on page 5 and 6 of results you'll only be given 5 pages of options, whereas the other pages provide ten navigation results. I used to see this problem all the time after page 4.

OMG Ceera, is this a coincidence or what? The two places both of us were complaining about!

*Laughs* Yeah, I did a really quick check today and whever they broke, they have fixed it again.

I dunno Wildefire... maybe we're just following each other around? Not as if we were total strangers, eh? *grins*

Nah... I'm too busy building to even chase my own Partner. *sighs* But all the building work that I am doing and the sim owner stuff you're doing do cause a large overlap between us, in certain issues that are 'important' to our daily use of SL. No surprise really, that we end up in many of the same threads here, relating to those issues.

Oh, I meant the image in my last post. Textures R Us and New Desperation Isle were right next to each other in traffic ratings, and as a result, Textures R Us actually showed up in my search results for NDI. Out of all the thousands of places in SL, and with traffic numbers that change every day, the two specific locales mentioned in this thread came up in the same search once the problem was fixed!
