i just recently purchased a logitech 350 USB headset, figuring okay this is going to make voice chat work, but to no avail. i have read through the faq's and done everything humanly possible to make this thing work. the problem i am having is i am unable to set the input and output device because it's not highlighted for me to do so. i have uninstalled and reinstalled twice now thinking perhaps it's a glitch, but surely it can't continue to do the same thing over and over again. my settings in windows is correct, my firewall permits it to work but alas, nothing. anyone have any earthly idea what's going on? i sent an email to sl support but naturally they said they couldn't help and sent me here so hopefully someone will come to my rescue!

Have you tried the Hardware testing feature in the Audio icon in settings, there is a Voice tab there that allows you to set the actual hardware to use (don't use GDI default, or DirectX, choose your actual soundboard) then run through the 'test hardware' feature.
Also try using DxDiag programme (In systems32 nested windows folder) to check your hardware. Have you got any issues with USB drivers, Human Interface Devices, in the 'Systems icon' Hardware Tab, Device Manager, check for usb and any other hardware/drivers showing with an exclaimation mark, or red cross? One last thing, make sure you plug in your USB devices before you start SL. _____________________

I had the 'drop down selction box' greyed out the first time I used the FirstLook voice viewer, but since this last update of yesterday, I can now select my soundboard.
However I am having the same issues as many here on the forums getting it to work. I started a thread, to see if there is any corelation between these issues and dual core systems /333/f4/195233/1.html perhaps this may help to narrow the issue down. _____________________

I have just got my system to work with voice chat... I had to remove all traces of SL off my system, ran a registry cleaner, defraged HD and reinstalled fresh downloads of both FirstLookVoice and the standard client.
Voice worked, although intermitent as you move about, but thats a SL issue. When voice stops working, I relog and for the most part, it works again, so might be a refresh issue with the linking servers. _____________________
