Let me first say that I really like the new UI style, but please...please...please...let us change the colors. The colors you have chosen are so bright that, on dark sims, all you can see is the UI. Some of these sim owners have gone to a lot of trouble to create a certain atmosphere and the UI should not detract from it. For example, that great gothic sim someone spent months putting together kind of loses its "feel" when surrounded by a glowing UI. Yes, the darker the viewing area, the more the UI looks as if it's glowing. Even settings like dawn and dusk produce this effect, not just midnight.
IMHO, I would put the default color/brightness somewhere in the middle and then let folks brighten or darken the UI as they see fit.
Maybe the feature is implemented already? I don't see it in any of the options, however.

The blog promises that it will happen soon... For now, people have made their own patches to change the colors and some are available for free. (^_^) I'm personally using the Retro Dazzle theme that was mentioned in this thread>>>> /327/6d/252301/1.html(^_^)y

Thanks for the link. I was wondering how I would be able to spend much time in SL since my eyes are really sensitive to bright light.

This article in the WKI has full instructions on how to revert the Release Candidate client back to the original UI theme colors and graphics: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Skinning_How_To/Revert_1.20_to_a_Classic_lookIt looks daunting, but in about 2 to 5 minutes after you download the files, you can have a RC that doesn't kill your eyes. You will, of course, have to repeat this process each time they come out with a new RC, until the skinning UI is released. The instructions are for Windows, but the files work fine for Mac, too. On Mac, do a "Show Contents" on the SL application, and about two folders deep, in the "Resources" folder, you'll find all the needed folders to drop the replacement parts into.
