I downloaded the new viewer and overall I think it looks great. One problem I've encountered is lighting wash out from my attached chest light. I have an avatar who wears breast implants. Without a chest light, I sometimes get some odd shadows and lighting because SL treats my implants as a seperate object even when it's attached to my chest. By wearing the chest light, the shadows are greatly evened out and my avatar looks better in low light situations.
After I downloaded the new viewer, I tried out a few things. As soon as I attached my chest light, my face and front body were washed out by overly bright light. So obviously, I can't use it with the new viewer. Is there anything I can do to change this?
I'm assuming right now that my possible choices are: 1. Forget the chest light and go without. 2. Find someone who can make a chest light with adjustable lighting. 3. Go back to the old viewer. (Personally, I would try to avoid going back to the old viewer.) 4. Find a way to adjust my current chest light.
Any suggestions or ideas? Anyone know if a SL store sells a chest light with adjustable lighting?

If you can edit your implants, you can adjust your chest light(s). Merely click-edit your implants, then your chest light(s) will be highlighted. Then, editing each light singly, you can turn down the luminousness of the lights, which will reduce the 'burn-out' that is a problem with Windlight. If you change the drop-off, it will have the same effect. It's tricky, though: the same settings for the lights will not work under all Windlight skies, but if you stick with setting your lights under the default Windlight sky, you should cover most situations.

You should start by knowing that all lights are adjustable no matter where you get them from, unless they're no-modify. They just have 4 settings in the edit menu. You can find them floating in front of you by pressing [ctrl]+[alt]+T and edit them by right clicking. (^_^) If you payed for them and they're no-modify. Do yourslef a favor and ask around inworld for help. Someone can teach you to make your own lights and wear them in less than a couple of minutes. (=_=) A quick Google search helped me find this: http://xahlee.org/sl/build_flexi.htmlIt has some tips on how to figure out light and flexible. (^_^)y

Many pre-WindLight lights are too strong. Nobody really checked, because non-WL lighting clamps at full-on; that is, once you have reached maximum, you can pump more and more light into the scene and nothing changes. WindLight lighting, on the other hand, doesn't do that; put too much light on a scene and bright areas of the scene wash out, just as they would in RL.
As others have pointed out, the answer is to decrease the intensity of your lights. You may also discover that you don't even need them in WindLight. One of the reasons that prim boobs have lights is because attachments were lighted very different than skins and clothing, so it was difficult to get the two to match without lighting. The lighting of the avatar mesh and attachments is more consistent in WindLight, so there is less need for lights to fix that problem.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I will look into making my own lights. As a follow up, my chest light is modifiable. So I will look into posssibly bringing down the intensity. I experimented a bit and found that the chest light's current intensity works best with 12 noon - 2 pm SL daylight. The worst is night time when you only have moon lighting. Then I get a very washed out look.
I have found that the new viewer is a bit kinder to lighting my implants, so I just might forgo any extra lighting unless I'm modeling. Gotta look my best!

Here is a belated update:
I did take the suggestion to use ctrl-alt-T to see the light and then lowered the intensity. It looks much better now. I used this same trick to dim the lighting from a chandelier I purchased. Thanks to all who responded and helped out.

Good for you, Skyla.
I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone who uses face (or chest or butt or hair or whatever) lights...
SL can only display a maximum of 6 local lights. If you are wearing a body light that has more than one emitter, you're cutting seriously into the available quota, and can easily "turn off" other local lights as you pass them by.
This happens in EVERYONE's viewer, unless they have local lights completely turned off. SL will only render the six local lights nearest to the avatar's point of view.
So, as you stroll down the street, looking your best, you are dimming streetlights, store displays, candleabras, and all manner of lights that the builder put there to make the place look good.
Be a good citizen! Keep your facelight to a single emitter, and keep its intensity and radius turned down.

Does it still support 6 light right now? I can only get 2 to work at anyone time in Windlight, for some reason!?

Well nope that's not it. I've checked and I'm at 700m in the sky when I test it ;p
