How about motion blur?

Playing around in WL, it suddenly just popped up into my mind; Why shouldn't WL also have a motion blur feature? It would really make it look really nice in so many situations. I know SL is full of so many problems right now and this isn't the first thing we need, but still?

There are so many motion blur technologies out there that use almost no resources at all. The most common one is to take an instant screenshot of whats on the screen every frame, zoom it and make it transparent, and so on like two faced mirrors, making it look like a bloom effect. Another technology is to just stretch the texture and blur the edges... something like what they added in the NFS series since NFS Carbon, though that uses a lot of resources, actually too much. Anyway, the lack of choices is not really the problem.

Motion blur would make it look very nice when driving a vehicle, falling from the sky, even moving the camera around fast. Just think how beautiful it would be if we could fly around a sim at sunset, and have a motion blur effect at that speed, just like when running around at dusk irl and seeing the pavement or grass stretch under you and become a set of scrolling lines. It would fit Windlight just perfectly.

I put a jira about it here http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4736 though noone ever talks there unless a feature is overly-voted, so the best place to discuss is still the forum. So, what do you think? Should we try and convince Linden to give us some motion blur with the WL SecondLife viewer sometime soon?

That sound do-able and doesn't take much resource or generating lag.
If they have the time to do it that is ;p
Sound like some independent client could do =p

I would think it should be a fairly simple filter/shader to apply when moving the camera or something. Just so long as it's an option of course.

Of course, it should be an option under Preferences - Graphics. Otherwise it would be better off not being implemented, if it would use more video bandwitch and you cant close it.

Also, the FOV should increase the faster you go... and zoom out with the speed to make the image look more condensed (Talking about the FOV in Ctrl + 8, 9, 0, which is a render fov and stretches / compresses the image). When that fov is increased, the image looks like through a deformed tunnel / deformed glass and it gives a greater sensation of speed.
