Can we maybe get the little network status bars back in the upper right corner of the client? I dunno about everyone else, but I found them kinda useful.

i actually find the lag meter better. It's a bit bulky to just leave open though. I use it when I'm getting lag... but it would be useful to have the network bars tucked up out of the way. No idea why they put search there, there's a button to open the search window already! _____________________

I'm definitely disappointed in the decision to cover the extremely valuable bandwidth and lag indicators.
As for the new Lag Meter. It's, frankly, a joke. Red light. Yellow light. Green light! Ha! A bar indicator in fact gives one 100% of range. And it took up so very little space. Zen! 3 color lights are not enough information and further even in the condensed version it takes up too much real estate. I'd like to know who to personally thank for the foolish placement of the search input. Please vote to restore the indicators: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3156 - Infrared |

Even the normal SL had it removed... WHY? If something works, don't fix it, now its replaced with a "search" bar. Theres a search button at the bottom menu, why put one to replace the Network bar. Anyone know how to enable it again? |

The "Statistics Bar" (Ctrl+Shift+1) is a bit easier to open/close and more informative than the "Lag Meter."
I keep waiting in vain for someone to mention this, but was it true that the small network status bars displayed incorrect or misleading info? I feel like it was mentioned at a Linden office hours or something. |

Though I am not normaly one to post simply to agree with the original topic, unless I am somehow furthering the conversation, I feel compelled to step into this one and say "Please, please, please, nice linden ppls, give me my lag meter back." It was more useful to me because it was SOOO compact. Then i could just glance up and see if the lag was graphics lag from my computer or issues with the network--either LL's or my own. Made patiently waiting for my club's events to rezz in at lot easier

Yah know there is plenty of room up there where it says the time and region area. Why couldn't they have just have moved everything over a little bit and *added* the search bar?

I don't find search itself to be very useful, but they could just have the search icon there with a drop down box when you click on it, like with spotlight on a Mac. Then there'd be room for the meters again. (I still like the statistics bar better though

Seriously they really need to bring back that network status icon.
Its literally 10 pixels by 5.... I mean if it works why REMOVE it?? The search bar up there is useless, it could just be shoved over to the left a few pixels and end of issue. Not to mention theres a big blue search button at the bottom. What's next, have the search bar cover up our L$ balance, so we can no longer see it? Bring back the icon!! |

It may have been a little buried in Infra's post above: vote for the Jira issue if you care about this --

I keep waiting in vain for someone to mention this, but was it true that the small network status bars displayed incorrect or misleading info? I feel like it was mentioned at a Linden office hours or something. Although I can't really see why that would be a reason against it, any amount of packet loss is bad, whether it's 10% or 50%, and any red in the bar was an indication you'd better not perform inventory operations, rez no copy items, or go shopping. |
