A strange thing with RC 1.20(  , every other login attempt fails for me. I turn on the pc, and go to log in. The first log in effort will always result in the "Cannot connect to Second Life...etc" error message. I then try again immediately, and it will log ion without problem. I play for a while, then log off. The next log in attempt will also get "Cannot connect....etc". The fourth log in attempt will work. The fifth will fail, and so on. Doesn't seem to matter whether it's my main or an alt, whoever I log in as will fail or succeed depending on where in the pattern I am. It's absolutly reproducible, it really does happen on the first log in attempt I make after turning on the pc, and then on every alternate attempt. I thought it might be my perception that the pattern was so clear, so I logged it for a day or two and the pattern of failure/success/failure/success was perfect. It's not a big issue, since all I have to do when it fails is try again, just wastes a couple of minutes, but it is irritating. Doesn't happen on any other viewer (a couple of early 1.20 versions wouldn't run at all, but this one runs well when it connects). I can't think of anything that could cause it, anyone got any ideas? |

The ""Cannot connect to Second Life...etc" error message"" i get when i don`t signin to provider before i login to SL. To me it sounds more like your fire wall or correct is having problems. Just a thought.....

Do I win something if I correctly predict you're on Vista? (I have the same problem, check here: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7069 ) Edit: Usagi, it's not a firewall problem at all-every other viewer, even RC 7, connects fine and on the same network I have a pc with XP running RC 8 just fine with every logon...it definitely is something between Vista and the viewer

Absolutely this has to do with Vista. However it's the latest patch for Vista that has caused this. I had no problems until this morning. I installed the patch because my virus checker was upgraded and it insisted that if I didn't install Vista's latest patch, that my computer and my internet could possibly run shower. So after updating, I now have this exact same issue that the OP is describing. And another issue I'm having is that if my computer goes to screensaver, SL crashes...everysingledamntime!

Yep, I'm on 32-bit Vista.
I tried looking in the JIRA earlier but I couldn't find it, thanks for the link.
The odd thing is that my 3rd, 5th, etc., login attempts also fail, but the 4th, 6th etc will work.
