(I was reading somewhere in the forum where the Op stated that LL was working on a SL 2.0. but was wasting too much energy trying to get objects in SL 1 to work in SL 2 or something to that effect. Great thread, but can’t find it.)

Anyway, I was considering this dilemma (if it’s even the case), but came up with something I think would truly answer all of the problems with such a massive upgrade.
And I think you guys are going to love the possibilities.

Ready? Lets Imagine..

Standing in Second Life 1.0….
Looking up…
And seeing a world in Orbit just past the moon… Second Life 2.0

Taking off in flight, with your focus on this distant yet vast world…
You fly past the clouds and into Space.

Space an open vastness of possibilities in it self...

But you continue forward to your goal.
Doing so you find your AVI turning into your default SL2 Avi and things start to look differently…

The World, now taking up your entire screen, and flying threw the clouds (2.0) you descend on one of the large continents…

Even closer now, you start to see small cities and then buildings and streets till finally... other avis (2.0)…

Welcome to the SL 2.0 World..

Looking up, you see a distant and familiar Heavenly body, known as SL 1.0..
Know you can fly back at any time and revisit your property and possessions.

But for now, this is the new frontier…

Everything you see is like NOTHING you have ever seen before…

New object, vehicles Buildings, textures, lighting, physics!
Simply amazing!

Like many people entering into a New world, they arrive with the shirts on their backs and whatever funds (L$) they brought with them from the “old country”..

A brand New start in a Fantastic new world…. A New frontier….

Second life 2.0…

-Big

PS: I’m going to expect that the those reading this can figure out what I’m not typing into this.. such as code writing and transitional servers from SL1 to space to SL2.0. and so much more.. but this is why I put this up.. to Ponder the possibilities.

I think having organized cities and planed development for parts of the mainland would be nice.

Ideas... Yeah. not another set of these threads please. You should have found the other thread and added to that.
Version 2 will come when it's time. Anyway... Dream on...

Have you lost your meds?

SL 2.0 will be more eyecandy, less userability.

I'll be happy if I see LL setup shop 'IN' the game and open a help SIM whereby you can tp to them direct and complain when your SIM is screwed up and they actually experience first hand what us 'rats in the maze' actually suffer.

I'll bet within a week there will be ban lines all round the sim, it will be offline to everyone, and they will take VR holidays to play online games against IBM... :p

Considering the state of SL 1.0 I can only hope SL 2.0 means they keep all the good things about SL, but fix all the bad things. But thats probably just wishful thinking.

I try not to do too much imagining.. I like to sleep at night, I'll leave that to the likes of Phillip. Imagining SL will all become right by version 2.0 does give scope to LL to drag this out quite a long time as they use 5+ decimal places in the 'update' numbering. Maybe 2.0 refers to the 20th aniversary of SL?
