Voice volume gone weird

Subject says it all ... ever since downloading build 125 of the firstlook viewer last night, I and a few friends have noticed that the volume of voice has become very temperamental.

At one point, speakers 20m away sounded significantly louder than speakers standing right next to me. Tweaking of the individual volumes made little or no difference. One experiment involved a friend standing next to me (volume OK), moving about 30m away (volume gets louder then slightly quieter) then moving back close (volume goes quiet).

Someone was mentioning that there's now an automatic gain control (which has indeed has improved the amount of hiss and background noise) but it's obviously far from perfect at the moment.

Big step backwards IMHO because this certainly wasn't happening with build 122. Anyone else noticed this?

I agree... The voice is all wonky now.

Goes in and out...

My name disappears from the chat list, intermittently, goes from white ball to green, back and forth.

Whack.

There are 3 settings, whereby you can adopt the sim preferences, restrict spacial sound to parcel, or have sound relative to your avatar. On the latter, anyone in your view (approximately 50 degree arc from directly forward of your view) would make anyone in view louder.

The only way I found to keep the voice option connected, is to use it regularily (even if it means I have to cough LOL), keep the sticky talk button down at all times (after my son has gone to bed and the TV is off), and not move about to much.

If it disconnects, you have to relog, well until LL realise we need a refresh button to reconnect to the voice servers.
