I have the Logitech 250 usb headset, and have found i get a voice echo (my own voice) in the headset. I've tried altering all the volume for speakers and microphone on my pc and also on the sl screen, but I still can hear this echo. Has anyone else experienced this problem. Sometimes it is softer and can hardly hear it and other times lot louder.

Using Windows XP.

If you look in your playback settings, it the mic volume turned up and/or unmuted? If you look at your record settings, that is where it should be unmuted and turned up. Your playback settings however may be allowing you to "playback" your own mic recordings (what it's currently picking-up) and feed it right back into your headset.

Have just checked what my settings are and this is:

Audio and Voice Settings.
Playback Volume Speaker is about half way down and unmuted.

Recording Volume Microphone is about a quarter up from the bottom and unmuted.

So are you saying that the recording volume should be way up to the top and the speaker volume down?

Do you have 'stereo mix' enabled?

Double click the little speaker by the clock, to get the mixer up
GO to options menu, choose properties.
Make sure the microphone is checked on the playback side.
click ok.
mute the microphone on the playback side.

Umm dont you mean 'checked on the record side, and muted on the play side'.... although unless the mic is associated as a play device, it won't show there anyway by default.

Echo AND delay
07-28-2007 00:34
I'm having similar problems with a Logitech USB 350, and we've muted the microphone but still have a problem with a 3-second delay. Is this just one of the vagaries of using a USB headset or is it something that can be fixed?

If the mic is generating echo, then it's already set to record, now isn't it? So why should I have to mention that you need to check and make sure it's recording. Also, you're right, the mic does not show up on the payback side by default, but that's why I mentioned the fact that you have to add the mic to the playback side before muting it on the playback side.

When the mic is not muted on the playback side, it acts as a passthrough. This is the same for the line-in. You can use the line-in to record, or you can also use it as a passthrough. If it's muted on the playback side, then it's not a passthrough.

With a delay that long I'd say that you're getting the feedback from the person on the other side. The other person is hearing you with speakers, which goes through their mic, so you hear yourself a couple seconds later.
