Since the new release Second Life 1.22.11 my shading a crossed the screen when my chat letters come up is so dark is there anyway I can adjust it or is it supposed to be like that.

Choose 'Edit>Preferences>Text Chat'. Everything you need to adjust the look of chat will be on that tab.
