Graphics corruption in windlight with ATI Card?

I am experiencing graphics corruption with the newest version of Windlight. It seems so far that I have no problem with the regular viewer so it probably isn't my card going on the fritz. When I log on to windlight everything is fine for about 10 to 15 minutes, sooner if I am in a laggy area. The symptoms are a bunch of triangular type graphical objects appear and are in the way of my viewing. It gets so bad that I end up having to log out. I noticed if I play with my sliders and un check vertex shaders and anything advanced and set the slider to low the interference goes away for a little bit but eventually comes back. I either have to reset everything in the graphics tab again or relog to correct it. Someone suggested that The newest update may not work well with ATI cards and drivers. Is this a known issue? Is anyone else experiencing the same problems? I have an AIW 9800 pro. For now I will use the regular viewer until I have figured out what the problem is.

Have you checked this JIRA entry? I get these things on my ATI Radeon X600 if I enable VBO AND set AA to 4 instead of 2....any chance you can try and disable VBO?

I checked out Jira

I checked out Jira, earlier and the solution suggested that the card might be over heating or about to fry. I hope that isn't the case, and I don't think it is since I don't get those symptoms using the regular viewer. I just copied your link into my browser and that is my problem exactly. I have found that it doesn't matter so much what i disable in the graphics tab, i will still experience corruption after 10 minutes or so. I have found that if I change my settings when things are starting to go funny it corrects it for a while. I can either keep resetting my graphics preferences over and over, keep relogging or just use the regular viewer. But since i really do enjoy windlight, i am hoping that someone takes notice and figures out a fix. Thankyou for replying to my post, much appreciated.

I'm having this exact problem with the last two updates to windlight. Using an ATI 9800 card. Driver 8.231.0.0. AMD processor. Anywho, batty triangulation everywhere, and only on windlight. gonna update drivers and see . . .

~ driver update to 8.451.0.0 found at the ATI website seems to have done the trick!

When in doubt, update your drivers!

I was having that problem with my ATI X850, right up until my power supply went bad. Replaced the power supply, and it hasn't happened since.

you dont have to logout. just go to the gfx settings and disable open gl vertexbuffer objects (in graphics/hardware options). if you let it off you wont have that problem. you can turn it back on right after disabling it, for faster fps, but the bug will come back as long as you have this option enabled.

has been in wl forever now, no idea if LL or ati are unable to fix it.
(my guess is both ;)

My computer dies last week and got a new one with nvidea geforce card and am not having any problems with the graphics corruption or crashing at all, but i am glad to hear that the new drivers for ati cards are at least an improvment for some people. Here is to a happy SL for everyone. Cheers!
