If you run the latest RC client, anyone else noticed how there is a command window open behind the client? You can find it by looking at the task bar, clicking it, will bring up a debug window, don't close it, otherwise the client crashes.
I use Vista 32bit, I haven't checked if this is relevant to XP yet.

When the client opens, the outline of a small window appears (literally just the narrow lines that form the outline of a window, the desktop is visible through it), but disappears again before anything appears in it and is replaced by the normal SL start screen.

I get 2 windows on my taskbar, one is the viewer client (normal), the other is a command prompt window with text, looks like a debug window that reports all sorts of system, graphical etc serices. It flows very fast, so difficult to copy paste anything in it, and its dynamic update. If I close it, SL crashes.
I do have certain services, including AUC, which is a pain/anal peice of additional drama layer in Vista. It has no effect on loadings etc, so I'll leave it, just wanted to know if anyone else had the same thing.

Have never seen this on XP Pro. Must be a Vista thing, or some optional console you checked in the Advanced menu.

Tells the male villain in the story... "Now whatever you do, DON'T touch the RED BUTTON!" and then runs for cover...

Small icons and bigger windows

From: Ceera Murakami Have never seen this on XP Pro. Must be a Vista thing, or some optional console you checked in the Advanced menu. One of the older viewer versions (i remember it was someone between 1.17.1.x and 1.18.x) has it also. The Vista UAC can be simple disabled by typing into the run menu; msconfig> Tools. Then a window comes up where you can disable the UAC and several other things. I tried it and Vista was more likely after to use. That the client crashes i guess its a thing between the client software and the graphics driver. I tried some different driver versions and the most stable for vista was the 8.1 for ATI cards. With the other drivers the error reportings stored always a failure from the graphics driver.
