Full screen tearing in Windlight

Okay, first off, my specs.

Intel Core 2 Duo 6600@2.40GHZ
MSI P6N SLI Platinum
3G DDR2 PC6400
BFG nVidia GeFoce 7900 GT OC (driver version 158.27)
(I don't think anything else would be relevant to this issue, correct me if I'm wrong)

Now on to the settings I use for Windlight

Utlra > Draw Distance to 64, Particles to 4096 (I've run Windlight with these settings before with no issue)

Now to the issue at hand.

While walking about SL (doesn't seem to matter where,, though the more things to render, the sooner it happens.) when suddenly the whole screen is effected by a MASSIVE screen tear. (I really need to get a screen shot of it, but pretty much the screen goes blank (could be blue, could be black, sometimes white) with colors shooting out in straight lines from the bottom left of the screen and fanning out as they head toward the upper right.

I check around the forums and saw only one other person mention this, and that it was related to Anti-Aliasing (tried disabling that through nHancer to no avail).

So, here I am, asking if anyone else has that issue and if they have found a way around it. I really want to start using Windlight again, but not at the risk of eating my PC.

P.S. When did Windlight become so laggy? Using the settings mentioned above, it still ran smoother than the normal client before.

Try disabling VBO-that's done it for me and quite a lot of other people, provided it's not your graphics card that is getting too hot. There's a JIRA issue on this, including comments with what you can do:
well, that is, ifthe SL website and the JIRA sub website weren't acting up right now. You'll have to find issue no. VWR-3258. ;)

LL has STILL not fixed this? That's a bit disturbing.

Oh look, I'm not the only one!

Yeah, okay.. read through the JIRA, and found VBO to be the cause... but that was with ATI cards. I had my doubts, and sure enough same results. So, yeah, no more Windlight for Fei... Oh well, not a huge issue, that thing is just eye-candy anyways and now runs worse as well. So, I'll deal. Thanks for the heads up guys, glad SOMEONE is paying attention... Not naming any Last names here.

Heh, no big deal. There are some nVidia people effected as well, but not as many. So, the issues caused by this bug may not be affecting the nVidia cards in the same way which leads to further complications. Looking at the JIRA, I can safely say that I won't be using Windlight for a long time coming.

[EDIT]
Okay, this is odd. I downloaded the newest client release for Windlight today, and no issues anymore. So, now I'm even more baffled since that JIRA ticket is still open. Makes me wonder if it was even related to that or a whole new issue entirely. Guess I won't ever know, since now I can't replicate the bug. Thanks for the help.

[EDIT]
Well, here's something... I went back into SL using Nicholaz (he said it was okay to fudge the Version Info and seeing as the new version only changed login stuff for the German client, I didn't see where an issue would arise) and went about things as I would have normally.. when BAM, full screen tearing again. bout to log in without Nicholaz and see how things run.

Oh noes! It's a zombie thread! It's ALIVE!

Well, I figured I'd just post back into this dead entry and revive it as it's revived itself. I did however find out a bit more about the "crashing". It's caused by SL being unable to render *something* and therefore making my card unable to render. If I can get away from said object (turning around, looking away, etc.) I can see again. Since I can't look at the thing, I can't really figure out how to replicate the "crash"

There is one exception to this rule though. Shiny inivisiprims cause this to happen. But there is little use for such a thing as I'm sure you could all gather. I used them on my home though, which is basically a floating room with clear walls. The shiny effect looks really cool, but causes the crash in Windlight.

My PC has changed a bit since the last post, so I'll tack on my specs again.

and I'm the only one...

I guess that no one else has this issue in regards SL right now, which makes me think I shoul just post a JIRA about it. It would kind of suck for me once Windlight becomes the normal viewer. Then I'd really be in trouble.

I'll add the JIRA to this post in a second.

Seems there are others with this issue as well.

http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3554

Also, there is a work around.

Disabling Render Dynamic Reflections.

This, of course, is not a solution.
