Not literally true, but I mean I can't hear my voice coming from Second Life.
I can hear other people in SL. Other people can hear me in SL. I can see the green broadcast waves coming from my dot when I speak.
Has anyone had this experience, or what should I be checking for troubleshooting?
I have in the past been able to hear myself, and then this stopped a couple or so days ago. I'm running Second Life First Look version 1.17.2.120 and I've got a PowerPC mac G5.

o.O;
I sometimes hear myself in the feedback, but for the most part no, I don't hear myself, nor do I want to. When I was in the military nothing was worse than cutting on the radio, and hearing the feedback of yourself on your buddies radio as you tried to talk.

Hmm, then maybe this is a feature rather than a bug? I'm using a headset and microphone so my voice doesn't echo, but since I used to be able to hear my voice and then stopped being able to hear my voice, it was more difficult for me to gauge whether I should speak up or pipe down. But I'll certainly get used to this if this is the way things work now.

hmm. i don't ever remember being about to "hear my own voice" through my headset. to me it would be annoying if i heard myself "through" second life (afterall - on a telephone you don't "hear" your own voice .. you just hear the voices of those who you are speaking to).
emm. but i suppose for some people it might be useful... ... maybe it can be made into a feature one can toggle off or on..?

I've never heard myself coming back. When i was playing with voice changing stuff everything i heard coming back was always slightly delayed and I couldn't speak right always hearing myself in a slight delay like that, not sure why you'd want to hear yourself over the speakers.

problem solved

First I thought it was a problem with sims because it worked in Ahern, but now I wonder if the reason I thought I was supposed to be able to hear it was because I was hearing my voice through other people's audio equipment. The last person I spoke with said she wasn't using speakers, but it's still possible I was simply hearing my voice through her headphones, and so I became confused over whether or not I was supposed to be hearing my voice.

Personally I find it very annoying and distracting when I hear my own voice back it sometimes happens when I am on the phone.
Definitely a feature, not a bug.
