personally I'd prefer LL to improve the avatar rendering first and forget skys and water until the peeps look more like people.

Then mess with the backgrounds

I've tried to advocate this before, but I'm not sure if you're talking about the lighting of people (in jira) or just higher-poly (detail) of bodies with higher levels of customization, "real hair", several layers of "clothes" to include tattoos, under garments, and coats/jackets.

I would like more layers and customization .. and I would think thats being worked on. and a whole new slew of skin creators can come out!
but I love the sky wish when I set it to my settings it wuld just stay that way!

Couldn't care less about the pretty new skies and water, but I sure would like to see a higher poly-count avatar, with beter UV mapping and more attachment points. Santa Linden? Are you listening?

I would like some updated animations and animation points, to include fingers, facial points, muscles (skin, not bone).

The default animations are so jerky and unprofessional looking. A higher quality animation set could be thrown in, perhaps if/when havoc4 goes final?

I'd settle for seeing people standing fully upright when they're over 50m away, and not affected by mysterious cosmic gravimetric forces that cause them to precariously balance facing about twenty degrees to the west when you view them from afar.

It makes me feel like the whole world is malleable and tilts to the side anywhere beyond about 50m away from you. o.o

Generally, I think avatar appearance is pretty good - especially with a decent skin, hair and clothes. The most important 'fix' needed for avatars is joints that still look good during extreme articulation. More flexible spine would be helpful.
