I got my SLim account all setup as per the instructions... but when I went to use it... entered my name and password.... the button greyed out and that was it. It stayed offline and never logged in. Help?

What you have to do is the following:
1. Download the SL SLim Viewer, and use that in place of the ordinary SL viewer. 2. Download SLim. 3. Create account with Vivox. Now, if you open the special viewer, you will be able to launch SLim, and talk with anyone else who also has SLim. I don't see the point of it, but what do I know? |

It's only for talking to those who are also using SLim? Wasn't the point of having a Slim SL was to be able to communicate with friends while on a computer that can't handle full SL? Or don't want to use the resources for SL at that time? If that is the case, then SLim is a piece of crap that never should have been made. Absolutely no point in it. We already have AIM, MSN, Yahoo! IM, and MANY more! We don't need another! _____________________

As I understand it if you are using the SLim client you can talk to anyone who is logged into the grid regardless of whether they are a SLim user or not. I have not used it myself yet, however.
UPDATE: OK I have installed and tried the SLim client, and the deal is that you can send an IM to anyone in your friends list and they don't have to have the SLim client, but they DO have to be using a SLim compatable viewer, which at the moment is only the special SLim First Look viewer. |
