Texture Deleting?

Now having tried out the new 'fixed' bedazzling client, I find that I'm receiving warnings about textures in my cache and that they are being deleted. Those textures no longer appear in game. They no longer load from my inventory either.

So let me think, someone pays to upload textures, lots of people buy them, the seller pays teir, LL loose the textures from their database, the seller pays again to upload them, and buyers all buy them again, seller keeps paying teir... someone is making a lot of money for their own mistakes.

Is it me? Or are other people finding all the current issues, getting old? I understand fully the difficulties with bug fixing, but 5 years and the platform still isn't stable?

That doesn't sound like the client, AWM...sounds like an unrelated asset server issue. Again.

With a system of this size and complexity, *some* data loss is inevitable - even if LL persuaded IBM to dedicate every software engineer onto debugging the asset system code - although the levels of data loss could be much lower.

We desperately need a backup system - no-one is going to continually put money into or rely upon a platform where things can vanish with no means of recovery.

I very much doubted it was clientside, I have powerful and reliable systems, it was disconcerting to see warnings telling me it was deleting textures from my cache that I had in my inventory. Yesterday though, after the rolling re-re-restarts, the texture suddenly reappeared.

I have powerful and reliable systems

Honestly I dunno if I'd count the Second Life Viewer among them :D

I've never seen such a message before. Do you remember exactly what it said?

I know there is a message along the lines of "Asset missing from database" which is sometimes bogus. If it ever happens you're usually best to close the client, delete the cache, and log-in again, see if it's any better, if not, check the grid-status reports, with all the inventory server failures lately tons of stuff can become inaccessible if something goes wrong.

Normally I write such things down, it came from the Ctrl+Shift+3 or 4 hud reporting, which you cannot capture in a screen shot, or select the text. As the re-re-restarts had been going on all day, during which time I was under pressure getting film sets completed, I was just annoyed at seeing that, especially as the texture was no longer there on my street lamps anymore.

This wasn't the 'normal' assest missing from database, warning, this reported coruption of the texture, and deleting from my cache. Which at best, was bogus, as it reappeared the following day.
