This doesn't look anything like the pics they had posted..are my settings wrong? This is a pic of the default setting except that I moved the sun a little lower in the sky to make the picture easier to take. (Firstlook seems to have made my camera focus "snap" me around 180 degrees....so it's very hard to focus on things now.)

The Windlight version of the SL client software makes the sun look like that on some lower end video cards and on some cards with drivers that are incompatable or not up to date. It's been bug reported.

I've also noticed a strange effect having to do with the direction of the light. I was facing the sunlight with my back in the shadows. In one particular animation, my hands cross behind my back into the shadow, and at one point my fingers curl. I noticed that the skin on the topside of my fingers was as bright as if my fingers were out in front of me in the full sun, even though they were facing directly away from the sun and behind my back.

So it's as though the light is applied to some default avatar position that does not take into account the movement of the avatar.

I was going to say that's because animations are client-side only, but I guess light rendering is client-side too. So, yeah, they should fix that! =o
