Hello to all, With the new version of Windlight we realise our avatars are looking more like Poser model than the one we used to like so much in older versions. Of course, we can use some setting to get rid of the shadows in our faces, but this will only change our own client look and other people will see our faces different, don't they. This makes me feel kinda insecure The question is: Will there be a fix and if not, what should be done to feel happy like in the oder versions? Making a facelight optimised for the Windlight version is necessary but the result still looks less good. There is a guide out to play with the settings but this only fix your own look a little and it's just the wrong way to do! here is the URL to the (wrong) guide. http://secondsoigne.wordpress.com/2007/11/25/optimising-windlight-for-avatars/

See: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3125Currently it seems to be a relatively low priority to fix, though I could be wrong. The other solution (and one I'm using) is to not use the WindLight viewer.

I'm happy with my look in WindLight - I think I look better in it than in old viewer.

I do too. But I don't use any expensive skin texture, either. I wonder if that's the secret. Perhaps the better quality skin textures have shadows "baked" into them so they look better in the old viewer, but now Windlight messes them up? If that's the case, then it's time for a new wave of skins for Windlight.
