I'm running XP with Bootcamp on a MacBook Pro 2.4ghz. (booted from XP partition)

Everything looks ok except that when I click and at random, the screen will turn a bright red.
If i hold the mouse button down, it wil stay red. I have also seen it flash yellow and teal.

I havent seen any one else comment on this issue.

Any clues?

I have it too

I guess no comments because it seems so obvious that it just HAS to have been noticed but.. maybe it only happens with a certain driver or video card. 8800GTS 163.69 driver

I've Jira'd this for Windlight. I'm using an NVidia 6800.

What seems to happen is that if you have property lines turned on, clicking on something gives you a red double flash. With property lines turned off, you don't get the flash from clicking on something.

However if you right click so the menu comes up, then just click somewhere else to dismiss the menu you get a single flash.

I just noticed that it does not happen when there is atleast one other avatar in the immediate area.

I noticed it wasnt happening, then, as soon as my friend left, it started happening again.
So I flew to a crowded area- no red flash. I flew away from the crowd, and the flash was yellow, then red as I got further away from other avatars.

I will try turning off the property line view. Could it have something to do with the "Imposter" setting?

I've noticed this too. I can't get it to start happening reliably, but once it does start, every time I click something and sometimes when I'm in edit mode the screen will turn a shade of green.

Could you post a link to the JIRA entry?

I'm also getting this, I can't reliably repo it either, but I've noticed the color of the flash corresponds to the colors of one of the effects currently on my screen - it flashes green if I'm in voice chat with someone (from the green voice effect above our heads), it flashes blue if I'm in edit mode on prims (from the blue highlight around the linked prims). Virtually guarantees I have to use another version of SL when it happens, instant headache. Please link to the Jira, I'd like to vote/keep an eye on it.

Red Flashes in Windlight
12-09-2007 15:13
Hi,

No help from me. Just reporting the same/similar experience. This has been happening with each version. I am currently running the latest (1.18.5 -75173) and this effect is still present and distracting to the degree that I don't stay in Windlight for any length of time.

I have an ATI Radeon x1650 (AGP) with 512 MB on an XP Pro Version 2002 SP2 kept up to date on an Asus P4 800E Motherboard - Intel P4 - 3GH processor - 1 Gig RAM.

My guess would this is related to pointer device drivers as I can make it happen by clicking on the screen. It happens other times too but for sure when I click anywhere.

I am using a Logitech Revolution MX cordless laser mouse with Version 4.24.29 drivers which are the latest version. I installed them today to see if new drivers would cure the problem. It did not.

Maybe enough problem profiles will help them complile data.

Regards,
BillyBoy

hey buddy, did you just see a really bright light?
12-23-2007 11:21
Saw this with a GeForce 6800 Ultra, an intermittent red flickering that I could not track down, and thought my GPU was going bad.

Wish I had read this thread a week ago. If it's only a Windlight incompatibility, then I could have saved myself from buying a pair of 8600 GTS.

Hi,

Turning off the property lines as mentioned above solved this for me in that build. In the latest build, I am not experiencing this problem with this even with property lines on.
