Folks might want to try out the "First Look Viewer". "First Look Viewer" is the new name for "Feature Viewer". This forum needs to be renamed or an appropriately named forum created for discussion of the "First Look Viewer".

"First Look Viewer" is a Linden created version of Second Life that tests out new features that can be be tested while connected to the main grid. It's as real as SL gets, it's on the normal Agni grid and all transactions are real.

My first results were quite depressing, however a few cache clearings, rebootings of computer, tweaking a setting or too, playing with affinity settings, fiddling with the cache size, and I was getting much higher frame rates - 100 fps instead of 15 fps, in some places.

Of particular pleasure to me was that the crash reporter completed and exited for the first time in months.

Seven times the rendering speed?

That IS an improvement.

Don't expect anything like a seven times improvement in general - but some folks are reporting good results.

If you are getting, say, 10 fps now, and improvement of 5 fps to 15 fps is a vast improvement.

Every fps counts.

I understand. Any boost is a good boost (well, unless the boost means losing objects! XD )

And make sure, that you enable VBO (Adv. Graphics), that did it for me. I got frame rates, I've never had in SL.

The crash reporter worked too, it crashed always after about 40-45 minutes online.

There's a major problem with this First Look Viewer. You can't buy anything. I tried to buy a freebie object for 0 L$, but it never showed up in my inventory. Others reported the same bug. I installed First Look separately (in another folder) but no I can't start the normal viewer.

Using First Look I have been unable to buy anything, from BareRose, random check vendors, freebies at Yadnis, items i set for sale to myself on my own land, group deeded stuff I tried to buy back to take into inventory etc.

Bug filed, blog comment lost in moderation blackhole.

Still ... at least SL is much cheaper

Agreed! I had this happen to me also as i explained on the blog

Well I sending in bug reports in all the time ( use fall ones )! Its just unreal how bugged, resourse consuming,.it gotten so bad that my system started to overload because it was trying to make sence of all the non coded....TWICE i uninstalled and reinstalled with the results of crashing my system hard crash! ANd No I don`t have any virus on my system I keep it clean.........Its just viewer is causong some sort of router problem. Unreal how out my system got after awhile........I am very sad after seeing the results of this viewer it had so much promise!

As for that blog! i never seen such trash posted by a a person bregging she nows all the answers! Yea right........
