well I tried it last night, and have large number of grey textures now, especially Alpha textures. As well my particles dont' show unless I turn up the count pretty high, never had this happen with previous firstlooks. The ages-old memory leak is still there when I increase draw distance, eventually leading to crashes. And of course the notecard edit problem too.

I gave up on FirstLook altogether when I was having LOD issues, random frequent "crash to desktop", and the problem with clicking the "You Paid" dialog dismissing all others.

Because of this, I have not been following the progress of the FL viewer as closely as I might, but I do not recall seeing any of those issues on a "fix list". Without those issues being fixed, they might as well not *ever* roll the new stuff into the main viewer.

Are those issues going to be addressed before the FL viewer goes live as the primary viewer?

Anything with an alpha texture is all grey with borders of the prim underneath showing solid edges. Runs for about an hour and crashes dead on me too. Regular client runs just fine.

All device and system drivers are up to date along with AV and operating system patches.

Cheers.

yes, they didn't list any of these issues as being fixed, only something about the particle system. However after trying it, it appears they fixed most if not all of the issues I was having. Quick work, and I have to say the best FirstLook yet.

Heh, you are correct. One has to move fast if one wants to savor each version of FL while its fresh and still has that "new code" smell.

The Really Really Really New new First Look viewer of the moment is at
http://s3.amazonaws.com/firstlook-secondlife-com/Second%20Life%201-13-4-59558%20(FIRSTLOOK)%20Setup.exe

or for those who always want to get the latest version, just always check at http://secondlife.com/community/firstlook.php before starting the First Look viewer.

I'm fairly sure there are some folks that lag behind in updating, and some may as a result be having problems that are already fixed in the latest version, hence the occasional post about a new version.

The "Paid button dismisses all blue boxes" bug was fixed a while ago - only two revisions of the FL client had that problem. Still fixed as of the current version, too - just realized I bought something last night that had a few popups with no problems.

first look is awesome. but remember, its for testing, it has bugs, use it at your own risk. If you find something wrong with it, dont bitch, send a bug report instead.

It seams that with each release they mess something else up. But the worst of all the messups are due to server side patching. They still have not fixed warppos...
