Windlight has been merged with the Release Candidate viewer. Just download and use that one ... and pray that the decreased stability which some people encounter (me included) does not hit you, too.

It's probably a good thing as most of Windlights develepment is over anyway, just bugfixing and now one larger team works together rather than 2 seperate teams in parallel

Thanks all

I had downloaded the suggested client, but found it was the basic client without windlight

Last night, I opened windlite and there was a link to a different file which does contain windlight

On the whole, we find that CLEAR PLAIN ENGLISH descriptions help enormously.......

Now the Linden chappies - merge it with Dazzle and be done with it -the new modern interface is much easier to use and pleasing to ones eyes.

BUT one message remains clear for the Lindens-

"PUT IN ON THE BLOODY BLOG"

Thank you, I have now left the building.

It was mentioned in the blog, quite clearly. Also, the windlight pointed at the proper upgrade file. I really don't know how much clearer it could be unless they emailed every windlight user personally.

There has never been a "Windlight" viewer.

"Windlight" is the name of a technology. Created first by a company called.. Windward Mark Interactive. Linden Lab PURCHASED this technology, which they began to integrate into the Second Life Viewer.

The Official Linden Lab Second Life Viewer comes in 4 versions.

The Current Stable Viewer (1.19.0.5)
The Release Candidate Viewer (1.19.1.1)
The FirstLook Viewer (1.19.0.80267)
The Beta-Grid Viewer (1.18.6.77968)

The "Release Candidate" is what software developers a decade ago called "Beta" software. This is the "pre-official-release version", the "latest" version... but it may still have some Bugs.

The "First Look" Viewer is what we used to call "Alpha" software. This is really early in development software, and they know it's not "ready" for official release yet.

Until recently, Windlight technology was featured in the "Alpha" (FirstLook) Viewer. This technology was moved to "Beta" status (and is now in the "Release Candidate" Viewer).

The "Dazzle" GUI is currently under heavy construction, and is therefore featured in the "FirstLook" or "Alpha" viewer.

If you dont want the mixture of educated answers and 'dumbed down' answers, you should have put that in your post. The various people here, are here to help those that have a lesser understanding, don't flame them when they do their best to educate you.

Making enemies here on the forums, will simply leave any posts you make, unanswered.

If you don't like that, then try reading all the various posts already made, do some homework and find out for yourself.

Oh, you can find out more on camping chairs by opening Search and typing:-

This has done nothing but cause me problems as it apears my computer isn't fast enough or I don't have enough memory anymore. Had to switch to the Dazzle viewer.

In case others are having problems..... here's the link for the Dazzle viewer:

Shoot.. just when everything seemed to be working really well for me.. they had to go and mess it up. :(
