A friend of mine told me this earlier today. He's having exactly the same issue. I wonder if LL is aware of this yet. It would make me nuts.

Yep, but it lights up instead {:
Edit: I'm glad it's working for the Local Chat tab too, but without the flashing, it's just not noticeable enough. It's not just that we're used to the flashing, I doubt a new user would notice and respond to it without the flashing, either.

It blinks twice, very subtly then stays "lit" again VERY subtly.

Ive already missed one friend that thought I was afk and logged out and didn't notice another conversation till it was a100 lines long because unles you are starting right at it you just dont notice it.

Yet another user interface un-improvment :(

Oh and the new checkboxes o the freinds tab are fugly and comepletly out of place with the rest of the smooth UI. Are there people with so little to do that they just have to change things just ebause every release?

i dont mind the boxes either way.. i jsut liek things to work... :)

only things i have seen so far i dont liek is:

- the stupid release keys button.. must have hit that about 10 times today...
- the im name tags not flashing like they used to
- crashing a lot
- not a problem for me, but my sister has no fl, no matter how many times she logs in...

i am happy however about the fact that my ati card now lets me use the shaders :)

i lag liek anything.. but its sooo damn pretty... mind you, that migfht be why im crashing so much.. bummer

For some reason, the LL team seems to have thought it a good idea to change a feature that we were all happy with, and make it less functional.

The IM tabs now light up in a manner which is easy not to notice, rather than the obvious flashing we were used to. I don't know why they changed it, but I don't like it, I've already accidentally ignored a couple people for a while because I didn't notice they had sent me new IM's. If you're busy in-world, you're quite likely not to notice that a tab has gotten -slightly brighter- as a notification.

LL, please stop making changes to the UI that your users haven't asked for. There's no sense in that whatsoever and you should know it's bound to cause problems. Some of the rearrangements I could understand as an experiment, but why in god's name would you change a basic feature like the IM tab notification that was working perfectly and we were all happy with, and replace it with something that does the same job less effectively?

I do like that it doesn't blink. But it would be nice if the color was less subtle, not just a luminosity change, but also an actual color change. Perhaps making the tab text red on white, or something?

Blinking is bad. Seeing new IMs is good. Surely there's a balance, somewhere, that doesn't necessitate blinking. :)

The color change is too subtle- in fact I cannot notice the difference on my 17-inch notebook screen, and I REALLY miss the flash. It IS nice that they do something about local chat. I often tell people to speak to me in IM instead of chat so I can have benefit of the tab flash if I'm dealing with IMs at the time.

Is there a JIRA for this?
