If anyone else is seeing WAY worse performance of the current release candidate viewer (1.20.6) relative to the currently released viewer (1.19.1(4)) I've submitted a JIRA entry (VWR-7251) -- feel free to go vote for it! (http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7251)

In the RC, textures (and sculpts) take FOREVER to rez for me, the client-side frame rate I get is HORRIBLE, and the GPU (nVidia Quadro 110M) gets WAY hotter than w/ the main viewer. Granted, I'm running SL on a laptop (I know, "unsupported"... :/) but I get pretty tolerable performance w/ 1.19.1(4) with what I would call "mid-level" graphics settings. Even w/ the graphics settings turned down to minimums, I find the RC viewer nearly unusable. This isn't a result of a configuration change on my machine -- I can switch back and forth at will and get great performance from the main viewer (well, at least once the GPU cools down) after getting horrid performance w/ the RC viewer...

I'm not a perpetual whiner about new s/w not running well on older hardware, but I don't really see what the big jump in the RC is that would be killing my system. I made the jump to Windlight just fine w/ this machine (had to turn my graphics settings down a wee bit, but that's ok)... what the heck is going on in the RC viewer that's SWAMPING my system???

Like I said, anybody else seeing this, go vote for the JIRA entry I made. Also, if anybody has any suggestions of what could be going on and/or what I could do to make the RC viewer run better, I'm all ears :D

I find 1.20 unusable as well, and from what I can tell, the expected gfx card performance boost using shaders and VBO are disabled in the client, whether intentionally or not. I dropped from 20-30 fps to 4-6 fps. With shaders and VBO enabled, 0 - 1 fps.

Voted :)
