I've been experiencing frequent freezes in the Release Candidates viewers. I only used RC 8 once and experienced it then, but chalked it off as a possible one-time occurrence or me needing to clear cache or something. However, it's happening in RC 9 as well. Every 10 to 15 seconds I'll have a brief freeze of a 2-3 seconds, sometimes longer. I'm only noticing this when avatars are visible in the scene, mostly more than one, as viewing just my avatar seems to be fine.
It seems to happen with all avatar types, even plain ones. If I move camera into a building or something where I can't see them then I notice no pauses at all.
This is the first time I've experienced this, earlier release candidates (5 and 6 I've tried) were fine.
The main thing I can think of that's changed since those versions is this new thread monitoring thing, is there a way to turn this off? I want to be sure it's not causing some kind of locking or anything that could result in freezes like this. Otherwise I have no idea, I'm not crashing, just getting a lot of blasted annoying freezes!
It shouldn't be my system, as my specs are as follows:
"Early 2008" MacPro
2 x Quad-core 3.2ghz Xeons (12mb cache)
10gb DDR2 800mhz RAM (FB-DIMMS/ECC)
NVidia GeForce 8800 GT (512mb)
4 x 750gb SATA II hard-drives (32mb cache per drive, striped RAID set)
Should be plenty of performance, as my frame-rates are usually nice and high, they seem unchanged in this viewer, but the values are obviously unreliable as they don't reflect the freezing I'm experiencing.
Is there an existing JIRA issue for this? I would search for one/create one but the JIRA is displaying it's usual crappiness by randomly failing to load pages, and consistently ignoring my log-in requests =/
