Even with the lowest detail I can seem to get it to, this new windlight feature halves my already pitifully crippled FPS. A year ago I could enjoy 30fps in my home, maybe even more, and could walk around in my self-made armour without dropping below 15fps except in really complex or busy places.

Now I'm lucky to get 20fps in an uncluttered scene, and am pushing 3fps or less with people around.

And in comes Windlight, to the sound of 8fps in EXACTLY the same spot I get 20fps in the current main viewer.

Please, please, just toss this to one side and devote man-power to improving what we have already, and dig it back out when we can actually enjoy the improvements it gives. I'm using the NVidia 6800 Ultra (256mb) which, while older, should still have plenty of power for what we have, and yet each update gets worse and worse without actually adding ANYTHING to my experience, bug fixes have improved, but they're still riding on the backs of changes which make the viewers worse and worse!

I'm not even that impressed by the improvements, all I see are moving clouds and the ability to change the colour, personally I found the previous sky to be just fine. And the sun lighting seems to suck ass, where did all the shading go?

:(

It would be great if WindLight were an optional setting.

I don't understand why it's not. Most seriously-lag inducing options are, so why isn't this one? Why can't it be a choice to view SL in the old way, or the new?
