Shiny Object Problem

When I turn on the Bump Mapping and Shiny option along with Atmospheric Shaders, anything with a shine goes transparent or black. If I turn off the Atmospheric Shaders, I get the shiny objects back, but lose all clouds. Here's a picture of what happens (the toes of my shoes have low shine, should be white and the poseballs have turned transparent). Any ideas?

I've seen several people report that shiny objects are transparent.

ATI Cards

*Most* of the problems seem to be with Windlight are down to ATI cards and derivatives - could it be drivers?

I updated the drivers just before I installed. Not saying that's not the problem, but I know I have the latest version.

I got the same issue, and I am using a GeForce 8800GTX. Now here's the weird thing...last night I tried Windlight before I decided to reinstall Vista, and everything looked very good. Well, after everything is all back up, installed the new BETA drivers, I tried SL and when Basic Shaders is on all shiny objects turn transparent and the water isn't reflecting.

All settings are turned on Ultra even. Another weird thing is that I can turn on Hardware Skinning and Avatar Cloth anymore, like I could before I reinstalled.

Not sure if any of that will help, but there you are.

All drivers starting with 169 are broken with SL shaders. Go back to something before it, all will be happy.

No shiny objects in/behind invisiprims
11-16-2007 17:25
I observe the following problem, that can be seen especially good on high heeled shoes:
When an object with a shiny surface texture is inside or behind a totally transparent object - like a shiny heel inside an invisiprim heel wedge or a metal bar behind said wedge - it is also invisible. This does *not* count for objects without a shine.

I have turned both shiny and bumpy on, turned every graphics quality setting to max (except for viewing distance and particle count) and I use a GeForce 7600GT with the newest drivers.

Update:
I found out that I can bring those shiny objects back if I disable one of the following Shaders:
* Bump mapping and shiny
* Basic Shaders
* Atmospheric Shaders

But I really don't want to...

I am running an 8600 GT and updated to Nvida 169.12 (so I can run Crysis) and noticed the same problem. Also I noticed a new feature "Glow" does not work. But in the end I guess this should not bother me considering the Vid driver I am using is beta. But I suppose in the same respect Windlight is also beta.
