I have a black dress outfit in which the top does not appear to be reflective but the bottom is.
Outfit is no good with reflective on.
I thougt an object was reflective if its shiny field was turned on. Are we avatars seen as shiny objects by the system? How dehumanizing, to be seen as nothing more than an object with properties to be modified by a computer program.
However, since it appears that we are just strange, malformed, poorly behaved objects, how bout giving us object property fields like other objects have, such as fields for avatar size, position, shiny, flexi (hee hee, flexi-avs), scripts in our, umm, soul that don't require objects to hold them , and ummm..........
I digress. I was trying to say the reflection is screwing up my clothes by making them reflective. It may be able to screw up a skin, too. Anyone see this?

Interesting idea. I have previosuly suggested that Linden Plants be transitioned to a phanton prim that has a an "llTreeSystem" running, similar to a particle system. Since an avatar is basically a physical prim as far as the sim is concerned, how about having an "llAvatarSystem" call. When you sit on or attach a prim running an Avatar System, that prim would become your avatar, and scripts and editing operations on that prim would effect your avatar... for example, you could scale your avatar down to 0.01m, or up to 10m, or call llAvatarSystem( [ AVATAR_SKIN, "tanned 2", AVATAR_SHAPE, "marilyn" ] ); to change settings.
Poseballs running Avatar Systems could be used in shops to let people try outfits on.

Anyone notice clothing being affected when dynamic reflection is turned on?
It doesn't make sense to me for this to happen, but it did.

I saw one AV where parts turned into a fine multi color spotted pattern.
But I had dynamic reflection turned off at the moment. It might have something to the avatar vertex shader since I just turned that on.

Suezanne, if you turn on Client >> Character >> Show Collision Skeleton we can see we are nothing more that a bunch of spheres. This only works in the Main Grid view. this feature is not working right in FL viewer unless this is part of a major change.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville Anyone notice clothing being affected when dynamic reflection is turned on? Clothing and tattoos, it happens on some systems but not others. It happened on my Wintendo on the previous FL viewer, but it doesn't happen on my Macbook Pro. [edit: after reinstalling 52720 it doesn't seem to happen in Windows either]

This is happening to me too. When I turn reflections on, my avatar reflects and nothing else does. Then when I turn reflexions off, my avatar stops reflecting and objects reflect like they should for a short period, and then go back to normal shiny.

Just to add: I have a black-to-transparent graduated texture. From one edge to the other. >grumble Loudon I saw one AV where parts turned into a fine multi color spotted pattern.< That's what's it looks like now. Shiny is not enabled I have several grads, circular, white to black as well. The one above is the only one that seems to do it.
