NEED HELP wearing items

Lately anytime I buy an item of clothing or a tattoo, I can't seem to wear it properly. I click on an item I want to buy, I buy it, and it is placed into my inventory. Then when I go to my inventory and right click on the item and select WEAR, it puts the entire item advertisement on me instead of the item I purchased. Meaning, I'll be wearing an advertisement box of a tattoo instead of the tattoo itself.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks!

You have purchased the itme in a box. GO somehere where you can rez objects and rez the box on the ground. Then, right click on it and select open on the pie menu. The contents of the box will pop up in a window that asks if you want to trasfer/copy them to yur inventory. Do that and then wear the item in the new folder created.

Have fun with your new stuff. :)

Omg the famous "i have a box on my head" question im not making fun but i think everyone has experienced this hehe. If you get an item and its just a prim (square in the inventory) its possible its in a box and not loose. If its loose it will come in a little folder (what I call an envelope).

so yeah you need to put it on the ground and take it outa the box bye clicking open and copy to inventory or copy and wear.

Rez means pull the item from your inventory onto the ground just drag it and pull it out and it might take a few tries depending on where you are and how the server is reacting :)

Okay, what does "rez" mean? Please pardon my ignorance.

Rez means creating something in SL, the wiki says its a Tron reference if you know what that means.

just pulling it out of your inventory and dropping it on the ground, rezzes the box.

"to rez" or "rezzing" is to cause something to exist in the SecondLife world. More specifically, the term is used to refer to either creating a prim (the building blocks of things in SL) or for taking something out of your inventory and causing it to appear in the SL world. So when you try to wear a box that you bought, you're rezzing it on your body. If, instead of wearing the box, you click on it in your inventory list and drag it to an empty spot on the ground, it should rez (appear) on the ground. Then you can interact with the box. Right-click on it to bring up the ring shaped interface, click Open, and then a window should appear with a list of the contents of the box. At the bottom of that window is a button saying "Copy to Inventory." Click that and it will copy or move (depending on the permissions you have) the contents to your inventory list. Once the items are copied to your inventory, you can either right-click and Take the box (which puts it back in your inventory) or you can right-click, choose More and then Delete the box (which is usually empty after you move contents into your inventory).

Unless SL doesn't feel like it today...then it may either a) stay in inventory or b) disappear into the ether. :p

A lot of places have 'no build' on, which means you can't rez boxes to unpack either. Check the bar at the top of your screen for the image of a box with a circle and slash before attempting to rez...that means no build. There are other icons which appear up there, depending on the land settings, and hovering your cursor over them will tell you what they mean. Even if build is enabled, you should unpack quickly, in case autoreturn is on, and pick up your box when you're done, in case it's not. It's just rude to leave your empty packages (and random objects) lying around other people's property and, since they can check to see who owns it, it may get you banned from their land if you do it enough. Right-click>Take or, for no copy items, right-click>More> Delete.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

little more involved but...

if you really really want to get the items out of a box, but you are in a no build area, do the following

wear the item,,, yes you read right, wear the item(box) then right click and edit the box (or bag or whatever they designed as a package)
then you can drag the items from the content folder to your inventory. (click more button then the contents tab)

if these are no copy items you will get the usual warning about them being no copy

(I usually drag directly to the root of my inventory.) you can make a folder previous to this to place them in

then remove the box(packing material item thing) and there you have it, unpacked a box while in a no build area...
