Hello,
I made a lot of searches.
Can anyone please let me know if I can display live broadcast from real television stations?
What do I need for that?
Thank you very much,
Clement

If it's an internet broadcast, you'd need a parcel of land and a texture that you want to replace with the media. It's under the media tab under about land. Any prim with the chosen texture should (theoretically) show the broadcast. If you are talking about something like DSS or Cable feeds.. sorry, not available at this time.
Maybe there are others who can better answer this, though. _____________________

Thank you very much for your quick replay..
I have the land, I know where to set the url and I have the prim to show that. My problem is that I don't know how the url should look for a live TV station .. the one like : http://www.domain.com/file.mov seems to me like a pre-recorded think ... Is the url for live broadcast similar (as format)? |

From what I see in the freeview guide, yes, it does appear so. I haven't used many 'live' broadcast setups, so I haven't tested it recently.

A 'Media' texture is any texture that you want to use, that will be replaced with the movie/TV/Film, so rather than have all your floors suddenly light up with Tom and Jerry, choose one, or make one, that is unique, give it a name like 'MediaTexture' and put it in its own folder so it is easy to find. The texture must have full mod permissions otherwise it will not show in the list of available textures, when to try and apply it.
The method to place the texture to the media stream is quite simple. Assuming you have media permissions on the land, click World, About Land, then click the Media tab in the open window, now click the grey box (assuming there isn't a texture there already and you want to change it), a 'chooser' window will open showing portions of your inventory, navigate to the texture you want to use and click it, then click 'Select'. In the 'url' box below the texture (top one is for music) enter the full url to point to the media you want to show, making sure that it is compatible with Second Life media formats (Point directly to the source media, mov/mpeg/mp4 etc, not a html wepage). Once done, close the window. Make a simple prim say 3.000x2.000 (you can adjust this later), colour it black (to prevent media 'bleed' around the edges), use the 'select texture' radio button in the edit box, and click on the face of the prim and change the texture (same method as before) to the same one you used in the media tab in About World. Without closing that edit box, you should see the movie control above the lower toolbox, click play, the texture will now change to the media you have chosen, while the 'movie' is playing, in the Texture tab (you may have to click the 'more>>>' button to see that), make sure the horizontal and vertical named boxes, both read 1.000 in each, now click the Stretch radion button, and deslect the 'stretch texture' radio button, and stretch/shrink the sides and top of the prim so that you can see all of the movie showing without borders or multiple versions of it. Once set, click the Align button on the bottom of the edit box. Close the edit box and you are done with the basics. Now you can add a frame and make it look more like a TV/Screen. ![]() Of course this is the most simplist and basic way of doing this. There are equipment sold in SL, that can 'automate' some of these functions and give you control over a 'playlisy' of media from which to choose from using a media controller/media player/DVD player.. call them what you will, they all do very much the same thing. You can buy a matching screen to suit your styling. Be sure if you purchase media equipment you read the instructions carefully and purchase a screen from the same supplier otherwise there maybe a chance they do not share the same media texture. Most 'players' require you to have deeding rights to the land as well as media rights. Some 'companies' in SL offer a full installation service (many do not).... If you are unsure, please feel free to IM me ingame and I can assist you. _____________________
