Serious important questions about Age Verification.

I'm a bit confused as to what will be blocked to residents who don't verify their age. Is it the entire sim that has a parcel flagged as adult or just the parcel that is flagged?

I'm a bit afraid that if I don't verify and a parcel in my home sim is flagged as adult that I won't be able to get to my land anymore.

Also if I have a shop in a mall that is NOT adult but there is a shop that is adult in the same mall, will I be able to use my shop?

I will not provide the information requested. I don't trust LL with that info considering their past failure to protect our CC info last fall, I have seen no assurance that this 3rd party site will not store our info and use it for other reasons, such as putting us on junk mail lists.

I got a crazy feeling earlier today that perhaps LL was approached by the govt. and asked to try to get residents to use this verification system to try to locate possible terrorists. This idea hit me after someone posted a reply that mentioned something about how the co. that will be doing the verification supports the current US govt. administration.

Who knows, in any case this was a poorly thought out idea and needs to be recinded.

well they have already stated you will be able to get onto pg rated land

the rest is up in the air but it appears there will be an added rating but its kind of a guess.

For me possibly i might need to verify for one place I sell at and I probably will if i think the stall is doing well. If the stall sucks then I will need to verify for no places, but I probably will anyhow just in case I want to go somewhere in the future that will require it.

From what we can gather from LL , You will still be able to enter mature sim's ... But not enter parcels on the sim that are flagged as containing ADULT content .

If you look in your land edit menu under option's you will see a dropdown box .

If a parcel has this set to ADULT ... Non-verified user's will not get in .

After reading the blog about this flag crap it seems obivious to me this is just another greed grab by an already out of control greed grabbing glutton! So lets see.. my premium account + $25/month land use fee NOW + ANOTHER $10 or more damn $ on top of that! If they want to so called "protect" me fine... just require ALL citizens who wish to enter "mature" parcels to be "Preimium" account holders! Its REAL simple and cheep! And i don't want to here s#*t about CC verification not being enough... "oh but a kiddie can steal there daddies CC", Well boys, girls and greed monger, they can just as eaisly grab thier daddies DL too now can't they??? This is just some BS cooked up by ll to make MORE money off us!

You know what.. they can shove it too! My land will become "GONE/SOLD/NO-MORE" and my familys private island land will STAY private/group-only and we'll do what we damn well please on it and NO ONE else will gain access to it and it WON'T have any stupid money making flag on it to rip us off for even more money either!!!! AND i won't spend another dime in SL EVER!!! So put that in your greed driven pipe and smoke it ll!!! You've just broken this camels back with your greed straws ll... and i'll do my best to see others take an equally hard line stand against this crap!

So I'll be saving $25us/month plus anouther $L1200 or so i spend shopping each month and if enough residents get off the disney land "ll's are wonderful and can do no wrong" wagon perhaps we can get it through their greed thick brains via cutting into their profits (no one can get to them via support thats for sure) that we're NOT sheep they can shear every time a ll wants a new boat or lux. car!!!

No responce to this is needed or expected since I'd have said it on the blog if I could have but it seems ll only allows 100 responces there... not that they read any of course! Yea I'm PO'ed.... more money for a game thats 1/2 broke, 1/2 the time and totally broke 10% of the time! No way!!! You want age verification ll then knock off the 'free' accounts access to "mature" land otherwise lose $25us+/month and I hope a LOT more!!!!

Wasn't the price for verification quoted as around 10L? I can't see how LL will be making a huge profit after the actual costs of implimenting it. The one time amount is rather tiny as well to enter 'adult' regions where the costs of services are probably a huge amount more.

$10L not worth the cost to process, $10US sounds more likely, but still affordable as a one off fee.

Then again from what I seen, many in SL don't have that much money anyway, certainly won't tip a teacher or dancer $10 for an hours training/entertainment anyway.
So maybe it will be good for the sex industry keeping out all the tightarse customers & cheapskates.

It looks like Basic members will be taking on the brunt of the cost...given that people have been suggesting more substantial differences between Premium and Basic accounts, that seems to make sense.
